-Show Me a Variant & I'll Show You Mine-

Postby Santos » Sat Apr 04, 2015 1:39 am

Alright, this might be fun now that a lot more of you have migrated to the forums. Basically, show us one of your many variants, I mean C'mon I cannot be the only one that LOVES variants! This could be a fun thread to show off some our variants, discover new ones, and just drool over awesome sweet looking covers. Not much needed, just a photo, maybe some background information of how you acquired the comic and anything else you would like to share, simple. I'll start the train and hopefully you guys will follow.

Amazing Spider Man 569 [Granov Variant]
Acquired:
I wasn't aware of this book until I ran into it while digging through back issues at the LCS. I got this back in 2014 as a B-day gift. It is one of my favorite venom covers and proudly sits in my venom PC lot. Love this cover, it screams venom, the original at least, so aggressive looking.

This variant is the most insane cover for me, it's where classic comics meets (or crashes against) Rob Liefeld, and I love it (big Mandrake fan):

I think this thread needs a BUMP so let me show something else to you guys.

Darth Vader #3 [1:25 variant]
Picked up both copies from my LCS when they came out. Decided to keep them in my PC I aint a star wars fan, but a new female character 1st app was a no brainer to me, at least the variant cover is.

Just found this one in a Five Below $4 Marvel comic pack (I can not stress enough how many sweet/rare variants are in those). I love it because my daughter is obsessed with The Wizard of OZ and this is a great way to transition her into comics ;)

Wizard of Oz....that is definitely different. Santos, thanks for reminding me to pick up that Vader now, while it is cheap...

I wasn't buying books back in 2008 so I'm not sure why this variant was made but it is a cool looking cover...

The spidergwen reboot and Dr Strange #1 this fall will have Action figure variants I saw in previews that I will pick up!

I am not that much of a variant guy but the action figures always make me tell Marvel "shut up and take my money"

OK breaking the rules a little here as this is not a variant though it is a pretty obscure book. I've always been captivated by this Bill Sienkiewicz (Wraith?) creature. I'm assuming this a ROM villain, does anyone know its name?

Zlovemojo, I do not.

Not very familiar with ROM myself.

Am i close? http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Dire_Wraiths

That ASM is sweet, is it part of the marvel zombie titles?
Loving the color and style on the Wizard of Oz/X-men variant.
