September 30

Happy last day of September!

Excited for NYCC and the exciting news that might come from it?

Me too!!

Let’s randomly take a look at some comics!

Not Marvelous. Or Marvelosophy. Marvelmania!

MarvelMania Magazine

The preview issue sells well. #2 is thee book, imo. Why? Not only does it predate Conan the Barbarian #1 and show the preliminary cover inside, but Conan’s front and center on the cover!

Batmania #13 Fanzine.

Love the DET31 homage!

Some cool images inside too. Here are a couple…

The monster that is Marvel Universe!

Monsters from the Vault #1, 1999.

Fairly scarce issue that can command $100+.

Marvel Universe Preview.

Previews Cadaverous including concept design art.

And, one will unite them all? Who is he??

Comics Journal #198, 1997

Cover by Milo Manara, including a bunch of images of his artwork and interviews inside.

Deadly Hands of Kung Fu #19

1st White Tiger.

Here’s a look at quite a lot of stuff inside…

Inside cover by Jim Starlin.

Bird of Fire!

Action sequences galore!

Why??? ; )

Here’s White Tiger..

A couple neat ads in here too..

Punisher returns in December.. 1975!

The galaxies are his stalking ground! One lone Earthman chosen for a mission of cosmic vengeance!

Starlord is coming soon!

No fresh prince in a strange-named town (not Bel-Air)

Princeless #1, 2011, Action Lab.

I remember when it was announced as going into production. Nothing I see confirms that happened yet or is happening.

Palookaville #’s 18 and 19.

Final issues to this series.

It was CBSI’s own Ben Stein who hipped me to how rare these are. How many books has Stein hipped us to over the past few years? Stein is incredible and easily makes the Top 100 all-time superheroes list.

Last page is really cool how they made their own throwback ad page.

Punishment time is in Winter!

Punisher V2 1987 Series, last 4 issues in series, #101-#104.

This set can fetch $100, with #102 leading the way as most desirable.

Captain America #6, 2005

First Winder Soldier.

Hard to believe this book is still so affordable. I guess it just takes more time for some books compared to others to see huge gains, huh?

Archenemies #1, 2006, Dark Horse.

Why do I keep wanting to type Archenemies? In any case, thought the premise might one day make for interesting tv…

“Ethan has no idea that Vincent, his roommate, is the villainous Underlord. Vincent has no clue that Ethan is the superhero called Star Fighter. In their costumed identities, they're mortal enemies, but as Ethan and Vincent they're the best of . . . wait, NO, as Ethan and Vincent they STILL hate each other's guts. Can comics' ultimate, super-powered odd couple keep their secrets secret AND learn to live together in peace? ArchEnemies is high-concept superhero action comedy drama times eleven. In our debut issue, it's a battle of wills as Ethan and Vincent try to drive each other OUT of the apartment and OFF the lease. But, in a moment of weakness, will one roommate go too far? [SPOILER ALERT: Yes. Yes, he will.]”

A strange, electric Gardener, with a hammer and Canadian claws!

Strange Tales #109, 1963

1st Sersi. Or should I say, Circe.

Green Lantern #59, 1968

First Guy Gardner…

And, a preview for a new star on the DC horizon?  Yes! His name?

The Creeper!!

On sale this January… 1969!

Daredevil #168

1st Elektra.

Daredevil already knows Elektra when we are first introduced to her.

Which leads into how they first met, including Daredevil’s first crime-fighting action!

Thor #337

1st Bill! As in, Beta Ray Bill!

X-Men #217

Canadian Price Variant. Supposedly rare?

We’re looking for the 95 cent cover price…

Have another great week guys!
