It doesn’t matter if you believe Donny Cates’ assertion that there can’t be a 1st appearance in a What If book. The fact is, this went from a less than $5 book to a $15-25 book, with tons of sales, this week. For those who do believe this is the first ‘Venom-Hulk’, does that really scream ‘key’ to you anyway?

Since Tank Girl has been steadily rising, what do you think about some other independent first appearances such as Albedo 2, Cerebus 1, and Fantasy Quarterly #1 (First Elf quest). Do you think those are undervalued/overvalued?
Will we ever get an Elf quest movie? It’s crazy you can pick up at VF copy for less than 100 dollars. There is a pretty rabid fan base but I feel like FQ 1 will spike if that IP is ever picked up by a major studio.
Cerebus is 100% a key book as the first issue of a title that truly changed English language comics in a way few other books ever have. That being said, given its content, investing in it is probably not the best idea.
Gold balls could be good if he doesn’t get killed. He’s kinda important now
Ok here’s a question, Why is the mc2 Benjamin parker who makes his first as a baby and via cameo selling like this?
Benjamin Parker appears first, as a teen in The Last Avengers Story 2.
He makes his only appearance as a kid elsewhere ( The MC2 Benjamin Parker never appears as a kid, only as a baby )
All I’m saying is there are a lot of baby books that are now undervalued.
Damn. I thought I had one of those UXM#1 variants. Was gonna go on ebay and undercut everyone’s gold balls. Guess I sold it for $4 and a bowl of chili a while back.
“Undercut everyone’s gold balls”. Lol.
If that what if 4 is truly pumping, shouldn’t incredible hulk 4 variant also be getting the same treatment? It has a super cool venom possessing hulk cover
Glad a Spider-Man exists in his many forms … where would the spec world be without variations of og characters ?
I think it’s great that HOX/POX continues to make the hot list, it’s a book that’s on the list for its great story, and not because it’s the the first appearance of a baby, a hot cover, or associated with a movie rumor.
I was really hoping to Voltron: A Legend Forged #1 on here, just for bragging rights. I’ve always been a little jealous who’ve chimed in with “That was my sale.”
hmmmm, several books spotlighted by different articles from this webpage…massive sales of said books…now said books are in the “top 10″…do I see a pattern of market manipulation here?? Idk, but it seems to be a trend, a book is featured in an article like true firsts, or dollar bin digging, within a week said book is now in the top 10. Either you guys have a huge following and people base their purchases off whatever books you spotlight or it’s a HUGE coincidence, just pointing out the obvious I suppose
A) spec news breaks during the week
B) people buy into it
C) CBSI catches wind and writes articles about it
D) more people buy into it
E) Hot 10 summarizes the sales for the week
F) even more people buy into it
It’s pretty simple to grasp duh. It’s a sad state that the speculation market is almost 100% a reactionary one but that’s not going to change. You’re either early into the news or late. Now if the news originated from CBSI and articles were written to pump it up, that’s where there would be some issues.
Well said
Spider-Girl #59…not even the same Ben Parker. Different universe, different timeline. smh
Yea all the Bens are unrelated which makes me think the first appearance of Pete’s son Benjamin is the way to go.
If they are all unrelated why would any of them be important? None of them are the same character so why care – it is like Batman Son of The Demon and Damian. This is all posters on different boards/groups pumping whatever books they happen to have in their possession.
If he wasn’t called Benjamin no one would care. He is though.
Actually, he is called Ben throughout Spider-Man #1. Signs his name as Ben and in a nightmare is called Benny by his mother. Nowhere in this book is he called Benjamin or Benjy as he is named in in Spider-Girl #59. I agree that this is a different timeline/different Earth. This Ben doesn’t have an older sister, so no Mayday Parker in this timeline. I mean if I can find some SG #59s in dollar bins I would be selling them to speculator who have FOMO too.
So it seems like all these low print high ratio Star Wars variants are massive hits. I was able to pick it up for less than ratio. Should I hold and wait till it’s a ghost online or sell with the hype being high on the book? Also what ever happened to the wizard rewind articles
What’s the deal with Big Mother????
