Dollar Bin Digging 54

Uncanny X-men #191 and
X-Men #52, #6465

Following up on last week’s House of X and Powers of X books, I thought we should keep an eye out for the first appearance of Nimrod in Uncanny 191 as well. I wasn’t gonna put this book in here, but then I found yet another copy in a bin this week. So, they are out there.

Not knowing where Hickman is going, I thought it also worthwhile to be on the lookout for the character of Bastion, who is sort of an evolved version of Nimrod. To be on the safe side you should also look for the 1st Bastion cameo (in shadow) in X-Men #53 as well as issues #64-65 which feature his first out of the shadows and 1st cover. Also note that #53 is 1st full Onslaught, and #65 is 1st Dr. Cecilia Reyes.

Batman: Dark Victory

On the heels of the Long Halloween rumors being the basis for the next Batman Movie, look out for Dark Victory too. While those LH books are seeing some heat, the follow up story in Dark Victory hasn’t caught on yet.

This is another great read and well worth your time picking up for that alone, but if the rumors are true, then this would be a logical source for sequel material. So, you could be getting in very early.

But you can find most of this run in bins as it had a decent sized print run, and not much spec value over the years. So, with patience you could collect the whole run with minimal monetary investment. So, if you are looking for something to collect, you can do much worse than getting these books.

Recent Sales Data:

CGC 9.8 #1 Census – 18
CGC 9.8 #1 – $43.95 on 6/15/16
Raw #1 – $1.00 on 8/18/19
Raw Set (#1-13) – $24.00 on 9/16/19

Don't Feel Like Digging?

So until next time, while you are out there digging, remember…

Good stuff this week! Nimrod gets zero love haha. Always thought he was a cool villain.

LOVE this column! Excellent installment too. I feel like many of the X-baddies don’t really get their due, in terms of collectablilty outside of Sinister and Apocalypse.

Also, perfect look ahead with the Dark Victory mini. There was a small window of when I didn’t collect comics and it was at this time…I missed on Long Halloween and never got to getting them…too late now. But this mini? Oh I’m all over it now.

    Thanks!

Thanks. I really appreciate that. But the X-books in general have been so forgettable for so long, it’ snot surprising that no one cares about the villains. Villain spec is tough enough as it is, but thankfully the X-stories have been good and it’s bringing attention to some of these forgotten about bad guys. I really hope they keep this momentum moving forward. Conspiracy theorist in my has me thinking Marvel had this in their back pocket for years waiting until they got the film rights back for the X-Men. haha

But just grab a cheap TPB for Long Halloween on Amazon. It’s a really good read. Both were. Theer were also 3 Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight Halloween Specials that they worked on together. Not essential reading but still something else to keep a lookout for. They are prestige format so they stick out from regular books when flipping in a long box.
