So the first appearance of Amadeus Cho is creeping back up towards $100 raw and is at $350 for 9.8’s.  I haven’t heard anything specific, but I guess the theory is that he will make his way into the MCU somehow.

Millie the Model #1

All the other Good Girl stuff is moving high, why not this?  Not easy to find, a 3.0 copy sold this week for $1600.  The most recent sales occurred a little over a year ago where a 7.0 sold for $2000 and a 5.0 for $1750–almost the same as this current 3.0 sale.

Interesting list. Maybe a correction on #8. Isn’t Red Cloud the villain that’s been in Bendis’ Action run for the past year or so? I think the new Red Hood villain is “Red…something else”. Too much Red.

    redhood 37 has 4 1st apps

  • Avatar

The character is Cloud 9… looks like a Harley Quinn knock-off.

There is also another 3 1st apps but I read the issue and it looks like these characters are more cnon fodder than anything else.

Who knows though… one of them might stick.

Remember Teen Titans #20… 4 first apps as well… cover proce cmic right now.

Is the book to get Avengers #47 or Avengers #48? Here in Michigan we are seeing Avengers #48 in demand and not #47. Curious what your thoughts on topic are today and long term

  • Foxom

I think 47 is the more important one. We’ve had other black knights but it’s the man behind the mask that makes him stand out. And really 48 is a 1st in costume issue with a sweet cover swipe (and 1st app of Aragorn if that floats your boat). That being said 47 and 48 will both be hand in hand skyrocketing for years to come. You don’t sign Kit for one movie.

Side note, She Hulk #1? Couldn’t find a pic?

    • Ben Steiniger

      Haha….it was considered for sure!

New week! New format! Gets better each time! 33 minutes is a great length, too. No need to stretch it out too long. Bryan, Ben & Jon: love your TFTFS show, so it’s nice to see y’all in another setting!

Thanx. I always hate when you have that cameo or non costume appearance and then the big reveal and wonder what book to purchase. I faced same issue years ago with Avengers #181 and Marvel Premiere #47. I Hope both take off but it always drives me nuts where to go with my dollars. You look at Hulk #180 and #181 and apply the same rules to Jimmy Olsen and the Forever People and you get two different answers.

Thanks ben. I’m hoping to find one of the first hosts at Walmart. Lots of random 2nd prints in the middle of those bad boys

  • Topher

Dane Whitman does NOT appear as the Black Knight is Avengers 47. The man you see is his ancestor who was an Evil Black Knight. Avengers 47 has limited panel time for Dane too. I’m just playing devil’s advocate here but if people knock Spidey 344….

I have been buying and holding those moon girl 1 books for a while now. So is once and future going to be a hold book and see where it goes or will it be like other mini series and fade away with time? I picked up the 1 per store cover and thought the story was done really well. Guess it’s time to find some Walmart’s and see if that venom book is in there.

Always enjoy these lists! Just fun to see how many (if any) I happen to have each week! Six this week including first Cho which is an honorable mention.

I have to say I am a bit shocked at how quickly Avengers #47 has jumped in price! Not upset, just taken aback a little. It got hot and spiked big-time fast! I did get on the spec wagon a while back with this book as well as Avengers #48 and have three sets of both. One of those is a CGC 9.4 #47, purchased for $185 maybe five months ago so, no complaints at all!…In fact the greedy part of me would really enjoy seeing more price spikes!…but maybe a downswing on Werewolf by Night #32. I don’t have that one…..yet. 😉

Looking through both issues again I do think #48 will take center stage (along with a generous price spike) the second they show Kit Harington in his full costume. Both issues are fairly big key comic books now, but #48 should be the winner when all is said and done.

    Savage She-Hulk #1 is climbing, over $500 now for a 9.8.

Great stuff Ben.. always love this article, also thought the early morning video with Brian and John Z, was a great touch too, I mainly like it because it’s done the same way as TFTF,
looking forward to this in future 👌👍

Nice list of comic books here , thanks for sharing…. like everybody has said — maybe missing she hulk 1 but we already know Wasup with that …. not sure why ppl count and boast how many of the Hot 10 they have — not a list I would be happy having ,, maybe happy selling — as atleast half of these comics will fall from the grace of hotness more then likely this time next year ???!!!!!

  • Avatar

This is the same situation as hulk 180 vs 181, you have a limited cameo appearance of Dane whitman in 47 vs A full story about him and features prominently on a classic cover in Avengers 48 also features the first time He is named as the Black Knight, gives some origin backstory and its a much more desirable Cover and way harder to find in high grade, the numbers on 48 are blowing away 47 so why 48 isnt on this list instead is a wonder, do people even open these books and read the stories???

    • Avatar

@ gmann14…I have both issues so no dog in the fight as to which one is better. I can see why #47 has taken the front seat…for now. It is the first Dane Whitman where he shows in three separate pages. That’s enough for a first full appearance. When it was announced that good ol’ Jon Snow would play the Black Knight he wasn’t just introduced only as the Black Knight but as Dane Whitman. At least most early reports indicated that so casual collectors my have started looking up his non costume name to find where he appeared first (maybe). It could be that the market has shifted to #47 being the favorite over #48. Time will tell.

There is also a chance that in the movie we meet up with Dane before he takes up the Black Knight mantle. If that is the case the audience will know him first as that. Of course he could be the Black Knight right away. It’s always guess work until official info is released. Either way both books are going to be fairly big to huge keys moving forward depending on how the character is received on the big screen. If you got one or both already there’s reason to celebrate because of how much both issues have spiked in price! Personally, I always thought #48 is the better one to have if you can only have one but that’s just me. The market will decide for all moving forward. All hail “the market”!

      • Topher

47 is the definition of Cameo. I personally see cameos as firsts but he briefly appearance in a book that is not his own.

        • Foxom

What do you consider a full? He appeared on 4 pages and spoke just under 300 words.

          • Topher

That is kind of the point, there is no definition.

Venom’s wife barely appears in Sinner 3 but she’s on the cover so it’s considered a full.

I consider 48 first appearance of the black knight ( Dane ) in a full appearance and first cover.

His appearance in 48 isn’t brief and the story is focused on him.

The market should correct itself on this one.
Oh and cameos can be firsts but in this case the whole thing flies in the face of conventional comic wisdom. That kind of makes me happy because the same thing didn’t happen when Woody was announced as Cletus.

        • Avatar

Sure, but “who’s definition of a cameo in regard to comic book appearances? I’m sure there are exceptions out there but Dane in multiple panels with his character named as well as his character speaking over three pages is a bit of a stretch for a cameo. Both CGC and CBCS list this issue as his first with no mention of the word cameo. Maybe I’m wrong and time will certainly tell on this one but I just don’t see most collectors calling Avengers #47 a cameo of Dane Whitman.

          • Avatar

I guess that’s the real factor we need community clarification or agreement on, is a cameo just a brief appearance or is it a single panel? look at my favorite debate: ms marvel 16, 17, and 18. in issue 16 we have a very limited view of an unnamed character looking at ms marvel through a pair of binoculars in a small piece of a panel considered by some to be the first “cameo” appearance of Mystique, in the next issue we have Mystique featured prominently in the story but is using her mutant ability to impersonate several characters (no spoilers) even a panel where she is silhouetted by an aura of sorts as she swapped impersonations but it’s the next issue #18 which she has much less panel/story time that her true physical appearance (blue skin) and name “Mystique” is revealed though in #17 she is referred to as “Raven”. I’ve long debated that issue 17 where she is named and appears throughout the story on multiple pages is her true full first but it gets little to no recognition for such. Until we can agree on what the definition of cameo vs 1st appearance there will be valid points to both sides of fence, if we can solidify the definition of these 2 terms we will give much more leg to stand on for either argument, personally I feel a cameo notation is warranted if the character appears on less than 6? panels or is it 4? maybe its 9=cameo 10= first full, a line has to be drawn somewhere or this debate will continue for generations, nuff said!

          • Avatar

@ Specisdead. It certainly would be awesome if as a collector community as a whole put together a more nailed down, accepted definition that everyone could agree on. Doubt that will happen but it would be nice. Talk about a potential debate, If Shuma Gorath is ever brought into the MCU who knows what kind of friendly banter will start up ! First he is only mentioned. Later you hear him speak in multiple panels. Finally in his third “appearance” you see him. Certainly an easy first “full”, but do the earlier ones even equate to a cameo? I guess that will be brought up if he ever sees screen time.

Someone else find one of those Venom FH#3 2nds in a Walmart Pack to prove me right and not have it be a rumor! Imo they are worth buying for the rare 2nds alone

  • Avatar

I bought two Black Cat #1 3 packs at Walmart and did not get Venom #3 second print, but in two of the packs I got Venom First Host #2 variant. Maybe just a rumor for #3?

    • Avatar

Got my FH#3 2nd in there. I dont have a video of me opening the 3 pack and I’m not a writer on this site so I guess it will always be a rumor until someone else finds one

      • Avatar

I just find it a bit ridiculous, I have absolutely nothing to gain by stating last week that I got one at Walmart. Try to help out CBSI readers by stating that i did so they might find one. I called the rare 2nds in all of the newer 3 packs that have them in and it should come as no stretch that they’d be in there, especially you stating you got a VFH#2 2nd in them. I honestly didn’t even know what VFH#3 2nd was until I saw it on top 10 since I dont buy current issues. Just thought I’d help people out but since no one seems to believe it, so be it

        • Avatar

I went to an out of the way Walmart but they only had three of the Marvel 3 packs. Could tell just by looking at the spines that none of them had the 2nd print. Again, they only had three to choose from. I will take another look at another Walmart when I pass by one….just in case.

        • Ben Steiniger

I believe you. I haven’t even tried to look, but I know others have. Some have found it, most have not.
