Hello comic nation!

Kirkman and his Oblivion Song optioned, huh? This massively printed book was selling for close to $30. That’s excellent for the current status of spec! Anything can hit at any time!

Lobo getting his own show? Meh? Or, Yay! Remember when Omega Men #3’s were on the brink of exploding? The possibility still exists, though I also remember when the Rock was rumored to play him on screen.

I like all of these DET-27 reprints. The Lootcrate edition is over $100. The Oreo reprint from 1984 is close to that as well, if not more. This DC Millennium completes the trifecta.

Introducing… Batman!

Amazing how the FCBD edition took off with the show’s success. Can’t wait for season 2! The $1 reprint can do ok on its own, thanks to the #1 first printing taking off.

Peter Pan Warlord of Oz #1.

Cool little underground book that puts a twist on the classic tale.

Last Unicorn #5, 2010 series.

So, the unicorn is turned into a girl in here? Pretty neat art!

And skulls! That drink booze!

Aquaman #10, 2016 series.

Fantastic Mera cover by Middleton.

A-Force! #1, 2015 first series.

“Marvel's Mightiest Women finally get their own explosive series!”

Who knows if the rumors of an all-Female cast will pan out on the big screen?

As in, Bruce Timm! Gen 13 #18 variant, 1996 series.

With an all-black back cover, it must be fairly difficult for the Timm cover completionist to obtain a 9.8.

Double vision time!

TMNT #5, 2011 IDW Series Variant.

Turtles get there different color masks!

And weapons!

Superman Man of Steel #18, 5th print DCU Variant.

I wonder if this book will ever climb again to the prices it saw prior to the Bat-Sups Movie. Let’s get Doomsday some attention! In a new movie!

Hellboy the Golden Army #0, 2008 Dark Horse. Liz Sherma Cover. This was a promotional comic. Tells the story from the movie.

Gotham Girls #3, 2002

Harley Quinn!

Love how the stories are drawn in the original Batman TAS form.

More Timm!

Vampirella Monthly #20 Bruce Timm Variant.

Speaking of rare Bruce Timm books, check out some of the Naughty and Nice good girl art books he’s done. Some of those are fetching hundreds of dollars.

Batgirl #12, 2009 Series

Lycra Woman and Spandex Girl Halloween Special #1 1993. Cover by Adam Hughes.

Bee and Puppycat #1 San Diego Comic-Con 2014 Variant.

Steven Universe #25, 2017 series. Cover by Jen Bartel.

Old Skewl!

One of the most desirable independent books? If not, it’s getting there. They’re hardly come up for sale under quadruple digits, if at all.

The scorpion debuts!

Amazing Spiderman #20, 1965

Everything Spiderman sells? Everything Spiderman sells. Especially first appearances.

Sinestro debuts!

Green Lantern #7, 1961

Batgirl debuts!

Batman #139, 1961

DC Comics Presents #47, 1982

Superman, meet Eternia. And He-man! World, meet Eternia and He-man!

Man of mustache-less arms!

Tune in for the MOTU Insert. Coming in 1982!

Black Knight!

Avengers #48, 1960’s.

Is this purchase a swing and miss today, or is more yet to come for this character?

Rai 1-5, First Series. From the 90’s. When it was cool to wear really baggy pants! Miss you… 1990’s.

Eternal Warrior #4, 1992. First appearance of Bloodshot! Come on, Bloodshot movie! Please be good. Please be good. Please be good! 3 times is a charm, isn’t it? Ha!

Rai #1, 1992.

Eternal Warrior #4.

Last page… first appearance? Shows more than a body part? Check. Shows the character speaking? Check. Shows in more than one panel? Half a check? Shows up on cover? Does that matter?

Note to self: Self, look up the definition of Cameo so we can put this debate to rest!

That’s all the time we have this week. Tune in next week for more underwhelming Storytime tales stolen straight from the books own pages! Have a great week! 🙂

Wish you were there at HeroesCon this past weekend, I came across some comics and went digging, didn’t realize they were your boys from CBSI until one of the guys asked if I was looking for anything particular so I handed him a list, which he helped me find a couple books, thats when I realized they were CBSI guys and I told them that list was the past couple months of The Walker Report books you’ve talked about, lol…we all got a good laugh about the whole situation, all the guys were super nice, ended up buying a 9.8 slab, a raw book from your list and got a cool tshirt too, good stuff man, maybe I’ll run into you at another Con down the road

    Aahh Bone! My comics nightmare.

I went to the comic book store years ago with my girlfriend and she hated it. She always got bored because I would stay there too long.

So I told her to pick any book she wanted and I would buy it for her. She picks this book little comic called Bone #1.

I asked her of all the books in here that’s the crappy comic you want? She replied “Because the little white gummy guy is cute!”

    Little white gummy guy?!?!

So we go home and she ends up reading it and taking good care of it because she knew how I handled my comics.

When she was done with it she gave it to me and what did I tell her? “Get outta here babe! I don’t want that kids crap comic!”

She ended up getting upset and gave the book to a friend for her kid.

After a couple years, I learn the book is going for a premium and I had the misfortune to tell her about it.

Now I never hear the end of it!!

Reason why the are called your better half!

That Lycra Woman issue is a virtual ghost. I can count the number of times I’ve found it in on one hand, and it’s a cover I’m obsessed with. The cover was actually re-used on Flex Woman* and Spandex Girl #1 a bit later. The solicit for that was the first time I remember seeing Hughes’s art.

*Why the title change? The publisher was sued over the use of “Lycra” and had to destroy any unsold backstock…

Great report! Most have already been on my radar and are in my collection already. I need to bite the bullet and finally secure a Amazing Spider-Man #20. The Scorpion is one of my favorite Spider-Man villains.

    Man, some great stuff!

In 1993 my brother and I walked into a tiny hotel con that our parents dropped us off at. I was looking for overprinted Image books and saw a table that had that whole RAI run, Solar 10, Magnus 12, and EW 4 and 7. I had never heard of these characters and the prices were through the roof! RAI 3 and 4 were $100 each, Solar 10 as well. I was immediately entranced by the cover of EW 4. To this day one of my top 3 favorite covers. I’ve been buying them ever since. All day long for a buck a piece around 2005/2006. I have a feeling the Bloodshot movie is going to tank and SONY will rethink their Bloodshot/Harbinger series, and DMG will sell off the IPs. And the Valiant characters will be in limbo once more. Gonna start saving my money right now. IPs can’t be that expensive, right?

Eternal Warrior 4 has always been his first appearance.

I can say I really enjoyed the Bloodshot movie. Vin is Vin, but the action was a lot of fun. There are some great Easter eggs for the hardcore fans. I saw a early test screen so I can’t say what the cut scenes will be (if any, but c’mon! Lol) but the movie was enjoyed by the whole audience. Being one of the only comic fans there I got to chat a lot with some people afterwards. Like I said a fun action movie.
