Dollar Bin Digging 39

G.I. Joe #135 – #155

This week I wanted to give you a range of books instead of a single issue because honestly, you want to be on the lookout for all of these issues at the end the run for G.I. Joe.

Sure everyone knows the last issue is a pricey book. In fact the last issue #155 just sold for $100 Best Offer accepted on 6/1. But any issue in this run could be a $10+ book.

Low Print Runs and die hard collectors area recipe for rising prices. Even in low to mid-grade shape, there are usually buyers for these books.

I chose to highlight #149 because that was a recent pick up of mine and I was surprised to see that there were multiple copies of it listed for $30-$40. Grated there are cheaper copies as well, but the point is to keep an eye out for the last 20 issues of the Joes because you may be surprised.

Recent Sales Data:

CGC 9.8 of #149 – $100.00 on 11/24/17
Raw of #149 – $11.99 on 5/30/19

Transformers #71 – #80

Keeping it Hasbro, you probably already know to look out for the late run Transformers books as well. Just like the G.I. Joes, the last 10 issues of this series are low print and highly desired by collectors.

Again, we all know the last issue is a gem that is a $40-$60 book all day. But any issue near the end is tough to find and worth grabbing in any grade when you come across them. I’m just gonna feature the 1st issue in the late run #71 for some perspective.

Nostalgia is worth a nice chunk of change these days. Properties like this will always have buyers so you’ve got nothing to lose by picking these up on the cheap if you are lucky enough to find them. Well, that is at least until my generation dies off that is.

Recent Sales Data:

CGC 9.8 of #71 – $162.50 on 1/21/19
Raw of #71 – $24.99 on 5/31/19

I have the full run of The first series Marvel Transformers (1-80). Many graded at 9.6, including the first 9 and last two (1-3 & 78 are newsstand copies too).

This series got me into comics and I still look for deals on 9.6s/9.8s today. Hard to find any of these long boxes in NM or better. Good luck!

Def tough finds. But you may come across a rough copy in the 70s so this way people know it’s worth grabbing even a banged up copy if these books if you find it for a buck.

And I’m jealous that you have the full run. I’ll get back to completing mine one of these days.

Anyone know if there’s a collection of the end of that Transformers run?

I just picked up a NM copy of GI JOE at a con for $80. I am trying to complete both joe and transformers by marvel this year.
