Dollar Bin Digging

Wonder Woman 17, 18, & 19

In response to all of the sales of War of the Gods #1 that have been sold under the incorrect claim that it is the 1st appearance of Circe, I figured I would point out that you really should be looking out for these 3 issues in George Perez’s run.

Circe 1st cameoed in issue 17, and that has been becoming more sought after the last couple years as she’s been speculated to appear in the next WW movie. Who knows if that will be true or not, but she is a popular villain and one of the few we could eventually see making the jump to the big screen at some point.

While 17 may be tough to find, many simply pass over issues 18 and 19 which continue her debut and origin. She even appears finally on Issue 19

Recent Sales Data:

#17 Raw – $7.00 shipped on 5/15/19
#18 Raw – $20.00 on 5/15/19
#19 Raw – $11.50 shipped on 5/15/19

Men of War Vol 2 #2

Speaking of Circe, another cheap book you can grab is her 1st appearance (re-appearance?) in the New 52 DC Universe.

This is an excellent cover from Viktor Kalvachev that gives me a strong Jae Lee vibes, in a good way. And if they put her in a future Wonder Woman movie, maybe it’s this take on the character that they use. I’m not saying she’s gonna be in WW2 as it’s been speculated, but who knows where we go in the future.

Like Marvel’s Ultimate Universe, the New 52 DC is kind of forgotten about right now. Outside of Snyder’s Batman run and all the Green Lantern stuff, the rest of the New 52 is kind of an afterthought. But all it takes is a little call back and we will all be chasing these books again.

As always, there’s more to the story then what we see on Wiki pages and irresponsible YouTube info. I might even say that the Circe we are seeing now (and one that I’ve written about on the defunct G+ page and on my MeWe site) is a whole new incarnation. Her first Rebirth appearance in Wonder Woman 20 is showing us yet another re-invention of the character (with a wholly new design and look- modernized clothes and short hair)- and tracking through her evolution in the JL Dark/WW Witching Hour, she will play a bigger role beyond just the WW mythos than she has in the past. She will play a big role in the year of the villain so whether or not the movie spec materializes, I’m buying.

Thanks for the great info Gary. It’s greatly appreciated. So that’s another potential WW Circe book to hunt. And it has a pretty sweet Jenny Frison B cover.

Exactly. Like everyone on our site always says, you must do your own research. Run with the ideas you may see on the site, but that’s all they are ideas. They aren’t instructions.

There’s a wealth of information available to us all, so take some time to look into an idea before you act. We have no one to blame but ourselves if we just act instinctively. FOMO is real, but regret is much worse.
