#CBSIBOLO List For NCBD 5/15/19

What Is The #CBSIBOLO List?

The Bolo List was created, initially, as an Instagram exclusive piece of content I dubbed comics cliff notes. A cheat sheet of sorts, the purpose of the Bolo list is to give CBSI Nation the most up to date information as LCS doors open on NCBD.

The Bolo list is not a list of books you should buy or books that will rise in value.  It's simply a reporting of what we are seeing in social media response and chatter, talk within our community, initial ebay sales, as well as communication with retailers and posted online spoilers.

Similarly,  every 1st appearance in a given week may not be covered. We only list first appearances that are confirmed first hand or by multiple reputable sources PRIOR to NCBD. No delentiation will be made for full vs. Cameo Appearance as it is for the market to decide and that can not be done until after the books have hit on release day.

The Bolo List is ⅓ of CBSI's NCBD attack with Simpleman's Weekly Picks and The Wednesday One. I am very happy to be bringing the Bolo List to ComicBookInvest.Com and all our readers. Be sure to follow us on IG (@comicbookinvestcbsi) for other Exclusive CBSI BOLO content.

4 Kids Walk Into a Bank

Remember when Black Mask Studios were the talk of the Indie Comics scene? A Lot has changed since then. But one book seeing a bit of a resurgence is Matthew Rosenberg ‘s 4 Kids Walk Into Bank. This is almost entirely due to a tweet the writer put out announcing he was penning the screenplay for the feature film adaptation of the comic series.

BOLO on issue #1. Many are even sitting in dollar boxes out there on LCS tables. Also, Bolo on the Sneak Preview for issue #1.

There are also several store variants to BOLO for, many with cool homages adorning the cover. But for obvious reasons, I'd look out for rhe CBSI Variant numbered to 100.

Midnight Sons

The heavily printed Ghost Rider #28 Polybagged 1st Appearance of the Midnight Sons is seeing heat due to Marvel/Hulu announcement of Ghost Rider and Hellstorm each receiving Hulu shows. But did you know the same month Ghost Rider #28 came out, the Midnight Sons also made a True First Appearance in Marvel Age #115. This appearance has a remarkably smaller print run. BOLO for those Marvel Age books still sitting in long boxes and get ready for some Dark Marvel on your Hulu platform soon!

Good Luck CBSI Wednesday Warriors!

The great debate…Is the first appearance in the comic book, or the promotional material for the comic book?

Actually, the orange-covered Rise of the Midnight Sons Proof Preview predates both books; from the store solicit when I purchased it several years ago:

Published by Marvel Comics in 1992, this is a black and white uncorrected proof of the mini-series with series ‘Rise of the Midnight Sons’. It is an 8 1/2″ by 11″, magazine size, square bound format with one sided pages, and is in near mint condition. This is one of a series of advance previews that Marvel Comics sent out to their distributors and larger retailers as a promotional item to encourage higher orders on select issues. These are quite rare as only about 500 of each were printed and most were tossed out by those who received them not realizing their collectible potential. It has an introductory page describing the storyline, and all of the contributors, followed by a sampling of the comics printed in black and white on white mando paper. Some of these printed the entire comic, and others left out the final few pages so as to not spoil a surprise ending before the actual release date. There are pin ups & trading card illustrations in the back. This is all in black & white.

You should probably remove the reference to The Wednesday One in your italicized intro as that column is now dead and has been replaced with Wednesday Warriors.

Man, Black Mask is the biggest squandered opportunity since Batfleck. It’s about time something from them saw some movement. 4 Kids is solid, and I’ve tangled with Rosenberg several times; he’s a really nice and sincere guy. Happy for him. I’d say the big variant to look for is the C2E2 #1 cover. Limited to 200 and it’s not a store or website variant (no offense!).
