CBSI GIVEAWAY CONTEST : AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #21 LCCAF VARIANT BY FRANK CHO

Straight from Europe's own LCCAF convention comes this beautiful Frank Cho variant and if you are lucky you will be able to get one for free!

Let's start by the beginning, though, what's LCCAF? The Lake Como Comic Art Festival is a high-end comic convention that will take place for the second time on the May 18th – 19th in Italy. A limited number of tickets (just 1,000) gives ticket holders the chance to not only see their favorite creators from afar but also the peace and quiet to interact with them in a beautiful location.

Feedback from people who attended last year's first edition (both creators and fans) was overwhelmingly positive and we hope this becomes a permanent fixture of the convention calendar, because when we thought it couldn't get better, just take a look at the guests this year: Frank Cho, Adam Hughes, Mike Mignola, Travis Charest, Bill Sienkiewicz, Arthur Adams, … and that's only half of the American artists. The really cool thing about this convention is that it mixes up European and American big names, so it's like having one foot in San Diego and the other in Angouleme. Really looking forward to getting there as I couldn't make it last year (and missed a once in a lifetime chance of winning Jim Lee sketches for free).

In any case, back to the business at hand, we got the possibility to give away some of these wonderful variants and how could we turn it down? Spider-Ham vs Venom, it's bound to happen and you don't want to miss on this appetizer. The question you have to answer this time is: what would be your dream team creative team on a new Spider-Ham series? I will go first … Chip Zdarsky and Jason Latour, both writing and illustrating in alternate arcs, covers by Jeff Smith.

3 winners chosen at random will each win a copy of this variant!!! If you want to make sure you get a copy, you can pre-order one from the LCCAF site (and be sure to take a look at last year's fantastic portfolio if there are still some left).

Contest will run until Monday May 13th so make sure to get your entry in!

One entry per person please.

Books will ship a couple of weeks after the convention as they need to get to the US first.

Scott Snyder & Greg Capullo with Artgerm covers.

  • Demon Jim

John Laymen – Did a great job with Chew. Great writer when it comes to mixing comedy, action, and seriousness
Jorge Corona – Loving his illustration in Middlewest. I think his art style is perfect for a character like Spider-Ham
Skottie Young – When I think of Spider-Ham I think of art that isn’t as polished. Needs a more whimsical and rough style of art.

    • Demon Jim

Oops forget to mention that Skottie would be the cover artist.

We really need an edit comment option.

Donny Cates as the writer because I think it would be hilarious to see what he would come up with for this.

A great Spider-Ham creative team would be Paul Dini and Bruce Timm, since their DC Animated works are classics, it would be nice to see what they can do with Marvel and Spider-Ham.

Zdarsky writing, Frank Cho interior art, Variant covers by S. Young and McFarlane. Would be great, but Marvel doesn’t spend money on A list creative teams these days.

  • Earlybird

Right now my dream team (Chip Zdarsky & Marco Checcetto) are already on Daredevil.. so I’m basically reading mine in action. The only thing I may change and that’s not because I don’t like him because I love his art too, would be I’d swap Julian Tedesco for Gabrielle Dell’otto on cover art 👍

I’d love to see Peter David and Skottie Young team-up on this! I think Peter has a great sense of humor but has to hold back on the more ‘serious’ books–he could really but loose on a title like this, while still giving it a worthy (and silly) plot!

Their Daredevil run but better. Gritty. Ham with a drinking problem and too much porking. Venom actually calls an intervention and it results in Ham getting “HAMmered” and slapping Venom. And that’s in just the first issue….

Bagley/Bendis are my go-to(interior) Artist/Writer for anything Spider-related, hands down. And Skottie Young has proven he’s got the pint-sized wacky character art on lock. So he’d be the perfect Cover Artist to draw people in to read this type of comic book genre.

Chip Zdarsky and Matt Fraction- writing (read Sex Criminals), with Skottie Young art. Katie Cook and Young covers.

I must say that a new Spider-Ham series may be one of the last ideas I would expect that Marvel’s creative team will think about, but I am surprised by this idea and now I am very much looking forward to it. Being an avid Spider-Ham fan, watching this character possibly evolve to greater heights will definitely be a dream come true and will surely bring tears to my eyes! If my wish would be granted, I would very much look forward to see (w) Donny Cates, (A) Skottie Young, and (CA) Ashley Witter to be part of this awesome creative team. Donny’s excellent writing work on Venom, Skottie’s tremendous art work on Rocket Raccoon and, Ashley’s beautiful covers on X-23 and Star Wars Doctor Aphra are for me solid experiences for developing this great, goofy and lovable character.
