The Walker Report
Good Monday morning Spec-vestigators!
Let’s dive right in, shall we? Maybe before the coffee! No, no. Never before coffee. Coffee first. Everything else next!
An”Tick”quities! Tick-lings! Truth be told I hated TAS series. All I wanted was X-Men! But over the years I learned to appreciate Mr. Tick. Or, should I say, Z-ppreciate The Tick! Looking at you, Jon Z: The King of the… Tick! The Amazon show is 100% 10/10 in my book. Season 2 just went live this month on Amazon. Along with Bosch S5 which airs this Friday!
Is DCP26 suffering from being an 80’s book? Ha! Can’t think of any other reason.
But, I wanted to take you on a ride. A look at the book on the inside. To the first appearances that herein reside!
Robin see’s the future! Here’s Cyborg’s Intro.
Some type of demon.
And the big reveal… Cyborg’s Father!
I believe the Titans Tower also first appears in this story’s’ pages.
More Dead Hulk!
First appearance of the One Below. I’m Ant-man, the Atom size, riding the coattails of the latest fad!
Bitter Root Train!
Did I mention I love option news? 🙂 Couldn’t resist picking a few of these #1 exclusives up.
Rumored to be 1,000 made (not sure how that breaks down with signed vs unsigned), these were doing $100 the week the series premiered. They’ve come back to earth some. Oh, the perils of buying online and having to wait weeks and weeks for books to ship. Still, beautiful books and who doesn’t need more Goon in their life?
Banking on the future!
More Pont One’s.
First Appearance of Sam Alexander. These were hitting their $30’s and look to have settled in less than that. I like the gamble though.
Will Mark Millar books finally start to see demand in the aftermarket? If the first show is any good, I think so.
What’s it about?
Here’s the synopsis:
“One last heist. That's what they all say, right? Just one final score, and everyone can retire and take up fishing. Thing is, the jails are filled with super villains who thought the same thing, and got busted. But the Heat's in a jam. He's run up the kind of gambling debt that – if he can't pay it back in cash – will be paid in blood. Nobody wants to see the most beloved supercrook of all time rubbed out by the mob – especially his biggest fan, Johnny Bolt. And Johnny's got a plan to help the Heat and make all his buddies disgustingly rich at the same time. Unfortunately for Johnny's recruits, they have to head to Spain and rob the world's most notorious super villain blind. And that's where things get tricky.”
Let’s hope Netflix, who has this property currently in development as anime, can do it justice!
More future spec!
Who is the new Doctor Fate?
Khalid Nassour is a medical student. He is Egyptian-American and related to the original Doctor Fate, Kent Nelson. Khalid found the helmet from a statue of Bastet wound up being his cat!
No Variants allowed!
I hear the movie is so-so. Hopefully it won’t stop them from learning from their mistakes and making more, better Hellboy movies. Here’s a look at the intro of the Nimue The Queen of Blood.
Hughes Amazing Heroes!
Not as mainstream known when it comes to AH! Books. Looks like less than a handful are sitting at $30-$40. It’s so fascinating. If these, ‘less than a handful’ sell, what happens next? Do more get listed for similar prices? Or, higher prices? Do any ever show up again? Most importantly, does anyone care? These are questions I don’t ask myself enough about so many books. It’s like freshly optioned books or new out this week books listed. So many die down after 1-2 weeks. But there are some that disappear and become ghosts. I like this similar game but for older books.
This is Usagi, in his first solo, self-titled series! This is one of those books that wobbles. Wobbles? Yes, wobbles! It will sell for single digits then it will sell for a lot more. All in the same timeframe!
To this day, Usagi is still creator owned by Stan Sakai. This means he can appear darn near anywhere. Cartoon Books and Oni Press. Your front yard. Behind your couch! Ok, he appeared with the first 2. Can’t say with 100% certainty on the last 2!
Warning! There’s a second print and it’s hard to tell the difference from the first print. Need to look at the fine print inside cover, second to last row of text.
Big Hero 6!
Final issue in series alert! Big Hero 6 #5 (of 5) 2009 Marvel.
Not a terribly expensive book. I’m simply a sucker for last issue books. The series is down currently. Out of sight, out of mind. After the 2014 movie, there was a series in 2017 on Disney XD. But!
Wait, we need a bigger “but” here.
Whoops. Too big! And wrong one! How about…
A Big Hero 6 film sequel for the big screen is still rumored.
Another Final issue in series.
The Last Unicorn!
Yet another last issue in series. This series has a following and a wobble effect of its own for regular issues. The Retailer Incentive issues for 1-6 can be extremely difficult to track down. Good luck, if you enjoy the good hunt!
Only Variants allowed!
Yes, there were dozens of covers made for this issue. I happened to like this one. It’s the Forbidden Planet Edition, cover by Ben Oliver. Bat-blood!
I’m still picking up Saga #1 later printings when I see them. I like to call it my NateG personality!
Another note: It’s amazing how different results display with the tweak of a couple letters. Take print vs. printing. Or, 4th vs fourth. Have fun with that!
These Star Trek Discovery 1:25 Space ship Incentive covers are big business. We’re talking $30+, with some fetching close to $100 and beyond!
First appearance of Damian Wayne, Bruce Wayne’s son! I think we all knew that. Or is DC going to change that? Who knows? But either way, in Damian, we trust (our spec-vestments?)
I liked the cover. That, and it’s limited to 1000 copies. Oh, and it’s also a LIIS (Last issue in series) Can we make that an acronym? How about FIIS for final issue in series?
Ok guys, stopping point here. Stopping point, like red traffic light. Stopping point, like Simon Says. Stopping point, like, “Stop! Or my mom will Shoot!” What a terrible reference. Ha! Have a great week in comic land and in real life too!
