Dollar Bin Digging 30

Grimm Fairy Tales: Wonderland #37 C

With all of the hype and crazy high sales of that Dark Red #1 Shannon Maer store variant, I was curious where he came from.

No one can deny that the art is stunning, but there’s no way I am paying those $120+ prices for the Dark Red book. So, I decided to look into what other books he’s done. Side note, his YouTube channel is pretty cool as he provides how-to vid’s with 3-D art.

Most were store variants, but this Wonderland cover C is one of his earlier non-exclusive comic covers. This book has garnered a bit of interest of late, but it was selling for under 2 bucks online just 2 months ago. So you may find it in a dollar bin if your shop has overstock Zenescope books.

Recent Sales Data:

CGC 9.4 only one in the census. No sales

Hellboy: The Corpse

This short story about Hellboy, a baby, and a corpse would become a major catalyst for events in the Hellboy series Darkness Calls as well as The Wild Hunt.

This is also the 1st appearance of Alice Monaghan who is set to appear in the Hellboy film releasing next week. Either way, this is a quality read and definitely worth 4x cover price.

Originally a 25 cents special, this book can still be found for cheap in the bins. This book reprints a story that ran serialized in Capital City's Advance Comics catalogs #75-82 back in the 90’s. Then in 1996, the entire story was collected with new material and a conclusion, in The Corpse and the Iron Shoes. That costs a few more shekels, but grab it as well.

Recent Sales Data:

CGC 9.8 – $74.99 on 9/26/17
Raw – $1.70 on 3/30/19

I’ve never seen a Hellboy comic in any LCS around me that wasn’t a trade or recent convention exclusive.

Really. Sorry you’ve got slim pickings in your area. I’ve grabbed a bunch of incomplete storylines from Hellboy and BRPD in bins near me. In fact, I’m not sure I’ve ever bought a new off the shelf Hellboy book. They’ve all been procured through the cheap bins.
