Wow.  2 weeks ago, this was at most a $30-50 book.  All of a sudden, multiple sales in the $125-150 range.  I think I've said this before, but this current market is pure adrenaline.

3 Untamed: A Sinner's Prayer #1

WRITER: Sebastian A. Jones
ARTIST: Peter Bergting
Other than Valiant movie speculation, this one might hold the title for the loooonnnnggg spec game.  Well, it looks like that is finally going to come to fruition.  People are reacting accordingly on this low print book and have bumped the price from $15 to $40 for this ‘A' cover.

What makes spawn 240 so special

Check the print run. That’s my guess. A lot of those 200s are low print runs.

There is nothing special about spawn 240. The series run from #99-263 are all low print run some more scarce than others. The cover is cool but its not worth the money IMO and there are better books in the 200 series that I would argue should be worth more than issue 240. It must just be a slow week that this book is number 1.

I agree, there is nothing too special about #240 itself, primary the low print run, availability, and new movie coming is gaining more attention as well. I have the entire Spawn run raw and over 2/3 of the way to have entire Spawn run graded as well. I have been collecting since Spawn beginning, while most people are having to catch up.

      Not a thing.

Hi guys. First time posting, long time lurker. Looking at Comichron, wouldnt Spawn 243 be more interesting ? For a regular non-variant, it has the lowest print number.

    Top10 Rocks! Thx Ben.

I am kicking myself now for passing on that 1:25 Meet the Skrulls #2 variant when I was at my comic book store. Arrrggghhh!!! Luckily, I pick up the cat variant of that issue since the three stores I went to on Thursday either got a few or didn’t get any. I am surprised that Avengers: No Road Home #6 (and the variants) isn’t on the top 10. It was sold out at all the stores I went to.

Yeah, I passed on that Meet the Skrulls #2 variant as well. I had it in my hand, but put it down. My thinking was “What if I can’t flip it? I don’t want it in my PC.” Ih well, you win some, you lose some.

Secret Avengers #23 2nd print has always been between 35$ and 70$. I never saw any at 15$ and I have been following that issue.

The 1st print yes, not the 2nd print.

That Dark Red Maer Variant was nicer looking before I saw the actual cover…. prices 200+ on eBay. Get ready for that one to plummet.

From the July 14, 2017 HOT 10 list:

#1 Venom: Sinner Takes All #3 1 week ago, this was a $10-15 book. Just a hint that Ann Weying would be in the Venom movie has caused this to sell for upwards of $60. I think the market has moved too fast for this book to be honest, but maybe it was just undervalued before.

Looks like there is still meat on the bone if you bought it at $60 almost 2 years ago.

Danger Girl has a Director now. Looks like a few of the Danger Girl Gold Preview’s that were on eBay were bought up in the last week.

Man, I have a spawn 240 in pristine condition, but it is part of my run. I have almost all the early issues 1- around 30. Then I have quite a few issues between 100-232, most of the homage cover, wish I had them all. Finally I have 232- the current issue, I never imagined they really would be worth anything. I was buying them to eventually read. Hard to break up my run but also hard to pass on these prices.

    • Avatar

Ya no kidding, prices are getting crazy. I have been lucky to have Spawn entire run raw, including #240. Those low print runs are getting pricey for sure. I am currently working on getting the entire Spawn run graded. I have about 230 Graded at the moment. The hype for the movie I am sure is having a lot to do with the price increases as well as the low print runs.
