Dollar Bin Digging 28

Amazing Spider-Man #574

Thanks to Topher who posted about this book on Google+ on Tuesday, following the news that Sony was developing Agent Venom TV series.

If they do move forward with an Agent Venom series, there’s a better than average chance that they will adapt this book in some fashion. This one off issue focuses on the backstory of Flash Thompson, and how he lost his legs in service of our country.

This is a great story on its own and worth grabbing just for the read. But this story sets the stage for how Flash moves forward and accepts the symbiote and becomes, Agent Venom. So it would be crucial in setting the stage for the show.

Convergence: Aquaman #2

The other development news from last week was that WB and DC were developing a Doctor Fate movie that could potentially focus on the Khalid Nassour version of the character.

The first few issues of the recent series from 2015 have been disappearing online. The early variant issues have issues jumped, with the 1:25 for #1 going from under cover to over $70.

But this Convergence Aquaman book actually features a preview of the new Doctor Fate series & can still be found in dollar bins. I found 2 sets of both covers last weekend and already sold both for $18.99 and $14.99 shipped.

Recent Sales Data:

Only 1 graded CGC 9.6 in the census.

Raw – $7.07 (+ $12 shipping from Australia) on 3/20/19

I just picked up a “Convergence Aquaman 2” – it’s a new 8 page story that leads into the events of “Dr. Fate” series. I know there’s some debate, but this did not strike me as a preview. The story is not replicated in the proper “Dr Fate” series. Further, it features the new character and the last page features him receiving the helmet. Food for thought.

Yeah, it’s not a preview in the since of previewing pages, it’s an original story before the series started. It’s the real first appearance.

That is an interesting debate though since this isn’t so much a preview of pages that will be reprinted in #1, but more of a prologue I suppose. It could be interesting down the line, but I don’t have faith in WB following through on all of these movie rumors. They are so fickle.
