Dollar Bin Digging 25

Black Panther #41

This is the last issue of the 2005 series. With Captain Marvel introducing Skrulls into the MCU in a couple weeks, I thought why not spotlight some cheap Skrull covers you can scoop up cheap in your dollar bins.

This Secret Invasion tie in features a pretty sweet Jason Pearson cover. Pearson is pretty under rated if you ask me. Whatever happened to him?

That black cover will make finding high grade pretty tough, but remember we are talking about digging in dollar bins. That comes with certain allowances for condition. One shouldn’t expect 9.8’s out of the cheap boxes. Bonus if you do; but it shouldn’t be the expectation.

Don't Feel Like Digging?

Wolverine Origins #25

This is an interesting book because it quietly features a reprint of New Mutants #98 inside. So this is a cheap alternative if you can’t afford a NM 98.

This book also features a gorgeous cover by Simone Bianchi. Or as Mel V would say, “Sim-mooan Beee-Aan-Chee”

There is also a secret variant that features a Skrull cover as well. As you can see in the small overlaid image, Daken is just shaded green in the variant. But keep an eye out when you are digging for that version since it’s tougher to find. It’s easy to miss if you aren’t aware it exists.

Recent Sales Data:

CGC 9.8 – $25.00 on 12/8/18
Raw – $7.00 on 1/21/19

Don't Feel Like Digging?

So until next time, remember while you dig that…

“It's supposed to be hard. If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard… is what makes it great.” – Jimmy Dugan

That Wolverine Origins is a key issue if you ask me.

Aside from the great cover as you mentioned Peter, it does contain an exact reprint of New Mutants #98 and this way before True Believers was a thing.

I wasn’t however aware of the secret krull variant, so for that I thank you! 😉

It’s hard to tel he difference between the regular and secret green as it is only shaded green on the same art. So without a side by side comparison, it can easily be missed. I’ve also come across conflicting reports that it’s a 1:10 or 1:15, but not sure if either ratio is correct. Marvel was doing this secret ratio thing long before the masked/unmasked Hawkeye or the tongue in/out Venom

I think one of the best skrull variants was the Adi Granov cover on Iron Man: Viva Las Vegas. I find those cheap as well.
