Dollar Bin Digging 19

Superman/Batman #10

Admittedly I am a huge fan of Jim Lee and this cover from 2004 is just a good example of why. Sure he may have mailed in the upcoming Detective Comics #1000 cover. I can be real and call it like I see it. I do not care for it much. But he’s had plenty of gems over the years. And if you can grab one for a buck why wouldn’t you?

This book is the 3rd part of the return of Supergirl and the entire run is worth grabbing. The other cover is a pretty sweet Michael Turner, so snatch that one too. Turner also provided the interiors which is an added bonus. This series was heavily printed and not hard to find. I see these Superman/Batman books in dollar bins all the time.

Batman #450 & #451

I usually find these books together when digging in the dollar boxes, so I would just grab both. Really nice Norm Breyfogle covers on them. I selected #450 to follow up on this week’s awesome edition of Cover Tunes. Nice job, Mike.

Norm Breyfogle doesn’t get the respect he deserves. Jim Lee may be the go to Bat artist today, but I think of Norm as one of the quintessential Batman artists. Maybe it’s my age, but the Batman I grew up with was drawn by Norm Breyfogle and Jim Aparo.

Released back in 1990 when Batman and Joker were riding high, there are plenty of these books to go around. Hence why they are easily obtained in dollar bins.

So until next time, remember while you dig that…

“It's supposed to be hard. If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard… is what makes it great.” – Jimmy Dugan
