First up is the Big Barda image by Matteo Scalera. I'm pretty sure I've featured at least one by Matteo in the past… but at this point, who can keep track. I'd love to see Matteo draw a Big Barda book or story if it looked like this! Most people probably know Matteo from the Image comic's Black Science series. However he's also worked on Deadpool and did an issue of Batman, #34 from Aug 13 2014.
Since Venom and Carnage are all the rage right now, I wanted to find something this week to feed that monster. I was able to find a Carnage image that stood out. This one is by Art Roman on Instagram. I don't remember who it was that pointed out Art Roman to me on IG months ago, it might have been Mel V or Trey… doesn't really matter. I think I might have featured a Venom image by Art Roman, or maybe it got bumped, again, who can keep it straight at this point. This is a really cool Carnage image, I don't even like Carnage and I think it's pretty cool.
By the way, did you know that CBSI is also on Instagram?
Last up is probably my favorite of the bunch this week. It's by a group/studio I know very little about, Cosmotrama Studio. One of the things with “studios” is the artwork can vary a great deal depending on the members. While I don't know anything about the individual members, this image is a little different from the rest of what they post. The thing I like the most about it is it tells a story in a single image. For those that have followed this column, most of the time the images are just pin-ups. So it's nice to see one that is something more, like this Batman and Supergirl image. It not only tells a story but also has the whole Halloween theme going on, which is fitting for this time of year. This one you really need to click on the image and check out the original artwork for, because my lazy 9:30am Sunday morning Photoshop job doesn't do it justice.
Well, that's all for this week, see you all next Monday with more artwork that should be covers!
