Baltimore Comic Con 2018

Well, another Baltimore Comic Con is in the books… honestly, I'm not even sure where to begin.

The thing that makes BCC so special is it's not like a lot of conventions with “comic” in the name. BCC has so many comic dealers and vendors. Even being there all three days, you might not make it through all the long boxes of comics. It's great! $1 bins, $2 bins, priced as marked bins, Modern Books, Golden, Silver, Bronze, Copper, Variants. Baltimore Comic Con has it all!

Obviously I'm a comics guy. I'm also local to the DC, Maryland and Virginia comic scene. One of the nice things is BCC attracts comic venders from outside the area. While it's great to see the “usual suspects” from the local scene, it's really cool seeing new dealers from all over the country in one place.

While BCC isn't known for it's exclusives like some other conventions, several well known variant retailers were in attendance. Which was something new this year I think. So just about any variant cover you could imagine was probably somewhere in the building.

If you were looking for something a little more unique, there's so many artist in attendance you could buy original works of art or even get an onsite commission.

BCC also has a vibe all it's own… it's Genuine. It doesn't feel artificially hyped or that it's trying to be anything other than BCC. One of the things that really sticks out is everyone is happy to be there. The staff is always great and friendly, and unlike some convention i've been to over the years. BCC is very well organized and welcoming.

There's literally something for everyone! Comics, Toys, Cosplayer,  Costume Contest, CGC Onsite Grading, Media Guest, Professional Comic Creators, Indy and Small Press Creators, Local Artist…  The Ringo Awards.

A quick note on cosplayers, this year I noticed at BCC most of the cosplayers had sensible costumes. No huge wings and only a few massive costumes. Typically things like that create problems with floor traffic, which, I'm soooo grateful for. It makes things so much easier to move through the convention when the flow isn't obstructed. It just adds to the enjoyability of the event and everyone's good time when people are thoughtful and courteous. That's not to say the cosplay's still didn't have some of the best costumes on display anywhere.

All and all, the CBSI Crew always has a great time at this show and BCC 2018 was no exception. Unfortunately I can't get to deep into that here, but needless to say we had a blast. That's why we always have a meet up at BCC. Members fly and drive in from all over the country just for this convention… and we're not the only ones.

Honestly, this is probably one of, if not the best convention for people who love physical comic books anywhere. I'm so exhausted I don't even know if I can truly impress upon those of you reading this how great a show BCC actually is. So don't take my word for it, check out all these great images from the con by folks that were there, using the hashtag #baltimorecomiccon2018.

With all that being said, I can't wait till next year when Baltimore Comic Con 2019 will be held from October 18th-20th. Also, I'm sure this won't be the last you'll hear about this years show. So keep an eye peeled throughout the week for other articles and podcast right here on ComicbookInvest.com with more details and perspectives on Baltimore Comic Con 2018.
