The Weekend After Wednesday for 8/25/2018
Want to know which books from Wednesday’s new deliveries are already heating up and which ones are cooling? Here’s a “Weekend After” list that we hope will help! This isn’t a reflection on the quality, collectability or long-term potential of recently released books. This is based on today’s market price for books that came out on Wednesday, 8/22/18. They could still be at your shop.
BATMAN KINGS OF FEAR #1 (OF 6) SIENKIEWICZ “B” VARIANT (DC) – I’m not the biggest Sienkiewicz fan, but many are. His demand has made this a $10-$12 shipped book.
DUCKTALES #11 BEAKS 1:10 VARIANT (IDW) – This is getting $15 to $20 right now. It should hold at that price.
LAST WEEK UPDATE
AQUAMAN #39 (DC) – Well, unfortunately, flooding did drag the price down to $10 shipped. While it’s still selling well, there are so many copies listed that it will be stuck at this price for quite a while.
BATGIRL #25 (DC)– While Aquaman came down over the week, this went up a bit and is also selling for $10 shipped.
INFINITY WARS #2 (OF 6) SECRET “UNMASKED” VARIANT (MARVEL) – I honestly thought this book would be dead by this week. Most sales are still holding at $15 shipped, though there were several higher sales between $20 and $30.
REJECTED, THE (SOURCE POINT PRESS) – This went up over the past week to a very consistent $45 to $50. The super hard to find variants showed up as well. The Garden State Variant, limited to 100 copies, sold for $150 as a buy it now (I actually think that was pretty cheap). There are two Motor City variants currently listed. I’m sure those will do well.
STREET FIGHTER SUMMER SPORTS SPECIAL CHUN-LI “MINAJ” ALBUM COVER #1 (CAPCOM) – Only one copy has listed over the past week. It stands at $60. Copies are still available at Focus Attack. So, this might just sit at that price as people were able to order copies directly for $25 + shipping. They did confirm that the print run for these is “around 400”. If you do buy some, keep in mind that everyone will be receiving and listing copies around the same time.
WWE #20 AARON DANA “HONKY TONK” 1:15 VIRGIN VARIANT (BOOM!) – There are two copies listed, yet no new sales over the past week.
HOT – THIS TIME LAST YEAR
BATMAN THE SHADOW #5 (OF 6) MATTINA VARIANT (DC) – Last year, this was getting $9 to $12 shipped. It now sells for under cover price.
SHIRTLESS BEAR-FIGHTER #3 1:15 BURT REYNOLDS VARIANT (IMAGE) – A year ago this was selling for $35 shipped. Today, it’s absolutely nowhere to be found. The last sale that I could find for this was on 10/30/2017, for $31*. There hasn’t been a single listing or sale since. If you have one, the market is yours.
WEAPON X #7 (MARVEL) – While this was $10 last year, it's now below cover price.
MEGA MAN MASTERMIX #3 1:20 GAME VARIANT – Normally, I’m all in for Mega Man variants. I don’t love this one. Regardless, this Mega Man game variant is selling for $25 shipped, which is right at ratio. You can also still buy copies at Focus Attack for this price as well.
PUNISHER #1 (MARVEL) – Most of the variants aren’t doing anything right now. However, The B&W Zeck Hidden Gems 1:500 variant has had two sales, $450 & $550, and has pretty much disappeared. The 1:100 Zeck Color Hidden Gems variant is doing $70.
SHADOWMAN #6 1:50 (VALIANT) – Selling for ratio @ $50. Though, there are cheaper copies currently listed.
WEST COAST AVENGERS #1 1:50 DODSON VARIANT (MARVEL) – This variant full of first appearances (though crazy character first appearances) seemed stuck at $40. It’s been creeping up at ratio between $46 and $55. There are no cheap copies left and there are 5 active auctions currently. This variant seems ready to jump. It’s worth noting that the 1:10 Tsai variant is selling a lot of copies at ratio. The McKone 1:25 is the worst performing of the bunch @ $10.
DIE DIE DIE #2 (IMAGE) – There were multiple covers with different word bubbles again. The market didn’t care.
DOUBLE JUMPERS FULL CIRCLE JERKS #1 (OF 4) (ACTION LAB) – I do appreciate the Castlevania B homage cover.
MOON GIRL AND DEVIL DINOSAUR #34 (MARVEL) – There was some speculation on this with the first appearance of Devin Dinosaur. While, these are selling for cover price, there could be some potential down the road.
OBLIV18N #1 (SCOUT) – Despite my struggle to pronounce the title, it’s an intriguing plot where all adults over 18 disappear.
TEEN TITANS #21 GARNER “B” VARIANT (DC) – Man, I absolutely love this cover.
WONDER WOMAN #53 “B” FRISON VARIANT (DC) – Frison is awesome, but the Hat and Tiara… why?
ZINNOBER #3 (SCOUT)– While copies have mostly sold for cover, there aren’t many of these listed. This does seem primed to jump a little.
