The Weekend After Wednesday for 7/21/2018

Want to know which books from Wednesday’s new deliveries are already heating up and which ones are cooling? Here’s a “Weekend After” list that we hope will help! This isn’t a reflection on the quality, collectability or long-term potential of recently released books. This is based on today’s market price for books that came out on Wednesday, 7/18/18. They could still be at your shop.

HOT

CABLE #159 1:25 ANACLETO VARIANT (MARVEL) – This is one of those “a title ordered so low, only a few stores will get these” variants.  It’s a nice cover with an even nicer resale value.  On the 19th, this was hitting $100.  It has recently started dropping a bit, now sitting at $75.  There are 10 copies currently listed with 3 of those being auctions.  It could have a chance to go back up a little.  Overall, it was a fun book to hunt for this week.

LIFE OF CAPTAIN MARVEL #1 ARTGERM 1:200 VARIANT (MARVEL) – Lately, all high ratio variants are having trouble hitting ratio.  This variant is the exception this week.  The most recent copy sold for $240.  It was definitely bouncing around price-wise, however $200 was the most consistent out of those older sales.  Can it hold? Honestly, probably not.  The Quesada 1:100 Virgin Variant is selling for $60.

NANCY IN HELL #1 (OF 4) (AMIGO) – The 1:10 Olmos variant is selling for $10 to $20 shipped (most are around $17) and eBay is completely dry of copies.  Cool cover too.

LAST WEEK UPDATE

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1 BEHIND THE SCENES PROMO EDITION (MARVEL) – This dropped down to $6 shipped and there are a lot of copies currently listed. At $0, this was still worth grabbing.

BLACK HOPS USA GI #1 (ANTARTIC WORLD) – Not a single copy has sold since last week.  However, there is one auction listed.

DIE DIE DIE “I’M DRUNK” VARIANT (IMAGE/SKYBOUND) – Last week, of the 10 surprise covers, the “I’M DRUNK” was selling the best at $22 shipped. It has dropped to about $16.  It’s still the most in demand cover of the bunch. Surprising/ Not surprising, stores received even MORE copies this week.  I’m really glad I only got one copy (the blank/no bubble variant).

RELAY #1 (AFTERSHOCK) – The main cover sure dropped like a rock!  Cover A went from $10 down to cover price,  The B&W virgin variants is still selling for $25 and has apparently dried up.

TITANS #23 (DC) – This has settled back down to cover. However, the 1:25 variant is doing great at $39 shipped.

WONDER WOMAN #50 FRISON “B” VARIANT (DC)– This gorgeous Frison variant has settled to $8 shipped.

ZINNOBER #2 (SCOUT) – Well, this too fell hard from a high of $30 to $12 shipped.  There are enough copies listed to help bring even lower.

HOT – THIS TIME LAST YEAR

DUCKTALES #0 (IDW) – This was pretty warm when it came out this time last year, just selling for a tad over ratio.  But man, did this explode.  At one point, this past May, it was selling for over $100.  It has dipped a little bit most recently to $65.   Still, that’s really amazing for a 1:10 variant.

Z NATION #4 CVR B PARRILLO (DYNAMITE) – This was the only variant out of all the Z Nation covers to do well the week it was released.  It hit $40, thanks to issues 1-3 being so hard to find.  Despite fluctuating prices AND being truly hard to find for the past year, a copy recently sold for $7 shipped.

WARM

SPIDER-GWEN #34 (MARVEL) – There were a lot of people talking about this last issue of Spider-Gwen.  It’s interesting to see Robbi create this homage to his own original cover to EOSV #2, though I still prefer the original.

COOL

APHRODITE V #1 (IMAGE/TOP COW)

ARCHIE MEETS BATMAN 66 #1 (ARCHIE) – I can’t imagine Archie is the best sidekick, even for ’66 Batman.

BARRY STEAKFRIES #1 (KEENSPOT)

BATMAN #51 (VARIANT)

CLANKILLERS #1 (AFTERSHOCK)

DEADLIFE #1 (OF 3) (STATIC PRESS) – While this can easily be written off as “another zombie” book, it’s the exact type of book that gets optioned.

EUTHANAUTS #1 (IDW)

FUTURAMA ANNUAL #1 (BONGO)

INJUSTICE VS THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE #1 (OF 6) (DC) – Man, as a massive MOTU fan, this could have been awesome.  However, the art is not exactly where I would like it to be to keep going with it.

JUSTICE LEAGUE #4  – Even Mr. Jim Lee can’t help get the 1:100 past $50 right now.  It’s a really great Wonder Woman cover too.

MAGIC ORDER #2 (IMAGE) – The Grampa variant saw some sales at $10 shipped, though there are plenty available for cover.

MALL #1 (SCOUT)

REVENGE OF WONDERLAND #1 (OF 6)

RISE OF TMNT #0 (IDW)

SKYWARD #4 (IMAGE) – You should really be reading this book.

SOULFIRE VOL 7 #1 (ASPEN)

THRILLING ADVENTURE HOUR #1 (OF 4) (BOOM!)

TWELVE DEVILS DANCING #1 (ACTION LAB)

X-FILES CASE FILES HOOT GOES THERE #1 (OF 2) (IDW)

ZOMBIE TRAMP ONGOING #50 (ACTION LAB)
