This week is sorta a hodgepodge of images I found while searching for images for the last 3 installments of this column. So no real theme this week, just 4 killer images I found online.
The name Fajareka Setiawan probably doesn't ring any bells, but it should. Fajareka Setiawan was the artist behind that most excellent x-23 image featured way back in week 2. This time it's Captain Marvel… and another great example of work that should, without question be a cover.
This next image is by Margaux Saltel from France. It's of Mister Miracle and Big Barda. It really caught my eye and I though it was a cute throw back to when comics were not so dark and gritty. It's got a light hearted feel to it. Don't get me wrong, I like dark and gritty, but every so often I need something light and fun to balance things out… also, as I've pointed out before there's not enough Big Barda content on this website.
Also a special bonus image just for Mel V and the other Valiant Comics fans out there. An image Margaux Saltel did of Faith. I think the Faith series might open itself up to more new readers if they went with a more cartoon style on the book. As opposed to the house style they've established on the majority of their titles.
Last but not least this week, this Black Cat image was done for Sideshow Collectables by artist Alexandr Pascenko from Germany. Unfortunately I don't have an extra $500 laying around or this would be my first purchase from Sideshow's website. Words do not exist to describe how truly awesome this image is, because they've been squandered on lesser things. This image shouldn't just be a cover. This is exactly what Black Cat should look like if Sony ever get's a movie with Felicia off the ground. Seriously, the texture of the costume is absolutely brilliant. Pascenko's gallery is incredible and you should go check it out.
That's it for this week, see you next Monday!
