Covers from the Unknown – Guardians of the Galaxy #25 (2008 Series) – 1:15 Skottie Young Variant

It's been a while, but thanks for checking back to Covers from the Unknown!  Today, I jump right into a Thanos, and Guardians of the Galaxy variant you may be unaware of!  I am looking at the Guardians of the Galaxy 2008 series, with the last issue, #25!  This is the 1:15 Skottie Young Iron Man by Design variant!  Honestly, I am not impressed with the Steampunk Iron Man cover, in itself…..BUT, if you flip the comic over, you have an amazing virgin variant of the original comic cover of Guardians of the Galaxy #25, which features Thanos front and center!  That cover was designed by Alex Garner.  This should be reason enough to grab this comic if you see it!!
That seems to be the problem.  This comic is a ghost.  They are no-where to be found.  When you think about it, at the time this comic was out, who thought the Guardians and Thanos would be as huge as they are today.  So when I say the original comic had a run of about 21,000 did anyone order 15 of it to qualify for the variant.  There was a reason it only lasted 25 issues… one really read it.  Technically speaking there could be 1,400 of the variants out there.  But as is life, good luck getting it!  My guess is possibly half are out there.
Good luck and Happy Hunting Fellas!

No idea why, but damn I love this cover. You’re absolutely right though, it is a GHOST!

Damn. I sold this book over a year ago as part of a lot since it didn’t command much on its own. I remember a few others being sold for around $5 to $10. I guess they went to people’s PC.

I have one. Bought a few of those steampunk variants at the time.

No listings on eBay and no recent sales either.

It is somewhat a key issue because it features the return of Thanos and he hasn’t died since I believe.

Do I list it or list it not… that is the question.
