No Love: Femme Forgotten Marvel Edition

Women in comics are all the rage and rightfully so – they are great characters, powerful figures, and leaders in their own right. Everyone is scrambling to find the next female breakout star but there are many women that fly under the radar. I present to you some forgotten Marvel females that get no love!

Abigail Brand

Astonishing X-Men #3 / Cameo

Astonishing X-Men #6 / 1st Full

Leader of S.W.O.R.D. …check. Intergalactic badass…check. Captain Marvel mainstay… check.   Character with huge potential given her role in Shield and the X-men…check!

Monica Rambeau/Spectrum

Amazing Spider-Man Annual #16

Initially introduced as Captain Marvel (also known as Photon or Pulsar), this character has reinvented herself as Spectrum, a heavy hitter in the Marvel Universe. She can most recently be found in The Ultimates kicking ass and taking names!

Maria Hill

New Avengers #4

Initially a Nick Fury understudy, she ascended to the lofty position of S.H.I.E.L.D. director and currently holds that position to this day. She has appeared on TV and I think the big screen is next!

Silver Sable

Amazing Spider-Man #265

A strong female mercenary who can hold her own against Deadpool and the Punisher, Silver Sable has been around for over 30 years. As a Spider-Man affiliate, it's not far-fetched to think she can pop up in a movie soon.

Victoria Hand

Invincible Iron Man #8

Initially a lowly S.H.I.E.L.D. accountant, Ms. Hand took a larger role in the Marvel U during Norman Osborn’s rule aka Dark Reign. Eventually vetted by Captain America as being a triple agent, she seems as if she is here to stay. Pick up her 1st appearance on the cheap!

Cool list but they killed Hand off prematurely in Agents of SHIELD, and isn’t Hill already in the movies? Cloudy Shoulders or something?

I would put someone like America Chavez or Kate Bishop on this list. Their first appearances are cheap and they both have variant covers for them which will give you a bigger ROI in the long run if you go that route.

Maria Hill is one of my favorite characters! Her personal story from Civil War through Siege is great. Nick Fury drops the weight of the world on her and bails out. Bendis put some real time in developing her. If Maria Hill is in the book you are reading, then you know it’s part of some serious marvel continuity and not just a rag about Deadpool eating tacos. New Avengers 4 has a variant, and I think it’s underappreciated.

Victoria Hand was killed off at the end of Bendis’s Avengers run like four years ago and not been seen since.

As stated above, Victoria Hand was already killed off on Agents of SHIELD. Also, Maria Hill has been front and center in many of the Marvel movies. I’m hoping Silver Sable makes a comeback in Dead No More. I’ve missed her since End of the Earth.
