NOT MUCH IN THE WAY OF NEWS THIS WEEK SO WE WILL TAKE A LOOK AT SOME RECENT AUCTION RESULTS

1

Detective Comics #69

No one can deny this is a great cover. But I am not sure I could ever justify spending over 3 grand on a low grade copy.

2

Avengers #4

AVENGERS #4

Strong prices being realized this week for low to mid grade examples of this book.

3

Adventure Comics #247

adventure comics 247 001

This book was long theorized to be one of the few DC Keys left to take off. Well, I think that train has finally left the station. While one could secure a VG or so copy for around a grand last summer, complete POOR copies are fetching over 500.00 these days.

4

Amazing Spider-Man #129

A handful of these went off this week and while prices in the higher grades were definitely strong. The low grade copies were ending high. 500 for a 5.0??? 650 for a 7? When did this become realized prices and not out of this world asking prices?

5

Archie Comics #50

700full

Classic GG Headlight cover. Love seeing this book hit an online auction. Always a tremendous amount of interest, healthy price and plenty of bidders.

STRANGE TALES #110

Strange Tales #110

Someone help me here, is this book’s average dropping in price? Even so close to the release of the movie? I am a strong believer in this book and I really think it’s one of the toughest Marvels to track down and secure. That is not the scene right now I guess, are folks all dumping at the same time?

  • These are articles are great. And a reminder not to sleep on keys if you see them out there for a decent price because they could soon be out of reach.

  • I think too many overpriced ST 110s came on the market.

    Thanks Nick

I guess so about the ST 110s, it’s crazy to me

ST 110 has always been one of the toughest silver age keys to find, especially in high grade. You’re right though, they have been dropping. With more people selling, prices are dropping to try and stay competitive. I really believe that there arent that many out there though, and as people buy the cheaper ones now and put them in collections, itll just make the existing ones that much harder to get (and thus be more expensive). I actually think theyll go up again after the movie.

It’s just odd to me. I have a respectable copy for myself and let go of a real beater, for amazing money at the time. Now it seems like an insane amount and I am thrilled about that, but wondering if we see an uptick again. Always was a tough book to find, would be happy to see it gain some ground.

  • Nice Ben! Thanks for the update!
