Indestructible Hulk Special #1 – J Scott Campbell 1:50 Variant – December 2013
It is Friday once again, time for the weekend and another episode of Covers from the Unknown! This week, it is time for one of the lowest print Campbell variants out there today! This comic is from December 2013, and is The Indestructible Hulk Special #1, the 1:50 variant. It is one of the very few Hulk Campbell pieces of art. This also happened to be part 2, of a 3 part Dr Octopus storyline, that also included the Amazing Spider-Man and the X-Men. Those two comics also had 1:50 Campbell variants as well. While it's not a traditional Hulk cover, it still is a Campbell cover.
At the time of writing this, there is exactly one on all the websites we normally visit! It happens to be on the bay, and it is not mine! Looking back at the ones sold, these have slowly been creeping up, and looks like they have finally passed the $100 mark. While the total print run of the regular print was just above 30k, there could be possibly be 600 of these out there. BUT, and this is a very big BUT, I would be very hard pressed to believe any stores actually purchased 50 of these to receive the variant. If there are 300 of these out there, I would be shocked. This may be a Campbell ghost that is finally uncovered. Granted, it's not a girl on the cover, but numbers do not lie. Low print run, and a comic that finally passed the $100 mark. This may be the next big variant, or it may be nothing at all. Just try to find one…….Happy Hunting Fellas!
