The Day After Wednesday for 7/28/16
Want to know which books from yesterday’s new deliveries are already heating up and which ones are cooling? Here’s a “Day After Wednesday” list that we hope will help! This isn’t a reflection on the quality, collectability or long term potential of recently released books. This is based on today’s market price for books that came out on Wednesday, 7/28/16. They could still be at your shop.
HARLEY QUINN #30 1:25 CONNER VARIANT – This is easily selling for $55 shipped. There are not many listed currently, so I don't expect that $55 to hold. It will probably drop to $35. Which is still okay for a 1:25.
LAST WEEK'S HOT COMICS
BRICKLEBERRY #1 1:10 SKETCH VARIANT – The 1:10 sketch is still selling for $20-$25 (PLUS shipping).
SDCC 2016 – I did a wrap up on Monday for some of the top SDCC comics. As expected, prices have dropped on most. The Skybound Negan B&W have dropped to about $125 each. Skybound limited variants historically don't hold, this is the ceiling. BATMAN #1 Rebirth Foil skyrocketed and is currently a $100-$125 book. The only Black Mask holding strong is THE FOREVERS at $100. 4 KIDS sets are dropping, but none appear to be selling still. Marvel variants saw a drop, CAP #2 is $45-$50 and GAMBIT VS. DEADPOOL is $30-$35. ROM #1 SDCC variants are holding. $30 for the connecting covers and $50 for the Ruby & Foil variants. That's mostly due to a well timed release for ROM #1 this week. They will most likely drop. SNOTGIRL SDCC variant dropped to $50 with a ton listed. HILLBILLY has dropped a bit also to about $75. However, the buzz for that book is strong and there will be a shortage of issue #2 next week. I expect that shortage to give the first print and this variant a nice little boost. Another variant I forgot to mention on Monday is GREEN VALLEY Skybound b&w ashcan (limited to 250). This book releases in October and is written by Max Landis who wrote the films CHRONICLE and AMERICAN ULTRA and has been killing it on the comic SUPERMAN:AMERICAN ALIEN. This is pretty reasonable at $30 right now, but people aren't paying attention to this book yet. The last book that should be highlighted is a book Trey mentioned on the podcast: WONDER WOMAN #1 REBIRTH 75TH ANNIVERSARY PANEL VARIANT. That's currently a $75-$100 book and was handed out for free to all that attended the Wonder Woman SDCC panel in Hall H.
ONCE OUR LAND #1 (SCOUT COMICS) – Holding at $20.
HAUNTED MANSION #5 1:10 KATIE COOK VARIANT – Currently selling at $15, this may not be blazing the variant market, but there is solid demand. The cover is cute and Katie Cook has a huge fan base (Disney has a decent fan base too). It could have some legs. It won't ever be super expensive, but it will be a solid $25-$30 book.
TITANS #1 REBIRTH – Here's a recent Rebirth title doing okay. It's selling for about $7-$8.
BATGIRL #1 – Selling for cover.
BUT LIKE MAYBE #1 (BLISS ON TAP) – Selling for $5.
CAPTAIN KID #1 (AFTERSHOCK)
FROZEN #1 (new series)
HAL JORDAN AND THE GREEN LANTERN CORPS #1 – Selling for below cover.
PREDATOR VS JUDGE DREDD VS ALIENS #1 (DARK HORSE)
RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS REBIRTH #1 – Selling below cover
ROM #1 – the incentive variants are barely moving. The 1:100 is selling for $50. SDCC variants are the only ones moving well.
TOMMY #1 (OF 3) GLOW IN THE DARK VARIANT (CREATURE) – no sales, but there's only one listed for $200.
