The Day After Wednesday for 7/14/16

This is late only because of me … sorry everyone!!! – Iñigo (writing down that last bit for later use in gravestone)

Want to know which books from yesterday’s new deliveries are already heating up and which ones are cooling? Here’s a “Day After” list that we hope will help! This isn’t a reflection on the quality, collectability or long term potential of recently released books. This is based on today’s market price for books that came out on Wednesday, 7/13/16. They could still be at your shop.

After a little over a week of vacation and missing the past 2 weeks for this article, I'm back to the DAY AFTER! And what a slow week too! Nothing in HOT or WARM this week. I actually love skippable weeks. Gives me a breather. Regardless here's what we have!

COOL

1563602_xlADVENTURES OF MIRU #1 (ACTION LAB)

ASPEN UNIVERSE REVELATIONS #1 – Despite it no going for much, nor any spec in it, there's a gorgeous 1:12 Siya Oum variant.

CIVIL WAR II #3 – “Death” issues have absolutely no value any more. It barely even registers as a shock. The market isn't moving on these. However, if the “death” stays put for a while, then there could be some long term spec in this (but probably not due to high print run). Find the harder to find variants while they're cheap. Right now the market favors the Hawkeye Noto variant at $10 shipped. I personally like the Quesada wraparound sketch best.

CONAN THE SLAYER #1

DISNEY/PIXAR`S FINDING DORY #1

HAL JORDAN AND THE GREEN LANTERN CORPS REBIRTH #1 – Selling for under cover price.

HORIZON #1 (IMAGE)

1563613_xlKONG OF SKULL ISLAND #1 – the 1:19 (weird ratio) is a pretty sweet variant

LADY DEATH DAMNATION GAME #1 (COFFIN COMICS) – you won't find many or any of the variants in store. If they are, they're not really doing much on eBay. But Coffin comics sells all of them on their website. Some of them tend to do really well. There's a risqué variant and a metal cover (limited to 166) that are doing well. That metal cover is pretty awesome.

LONE RANGER GREEN HORNET #1

MICKEY MOUSE SHORTS SEASON 1 #1

MILLARWORLD ANNUAL 2016 #1

NEW SUPER MAN #1 – Highly anticipated and apparently highly available. Both covers are selling for cover price, sometimes $1 over. If you bought a bunch, file them away and forget about them. It'll take a little while for these to marinate. It's possible, but I'm personally sticking with only one copy.

1537691_xlNIGHTWING REBIRTH #1 – Selling for cover. Rebirth is showing some fatigue.

PAYBACKS, THE #1

POWERPUFF GIRLS (2016) #1

RELIQUARY: MAYHEM AND MAGIC #1 (JET CITY)

SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN FALL #1 – There's an action figure variant for anyone collecting those.

TERRA FLATS #1 (ALTERNATIVE COMICS)

VILE #1 (ALTERNATIVE COMICS)

Man, this was an easy one hunh? 🙂

Great article as always. On a side note: I enjoyed reading new superman so if nothing else there’s that.

I love these articles even when nothing is doing anything. Love the tidbits you include on the cold books.

“Rebirth is showing some fatigue” I like that… I agree twice a month titles is already wearing me out!

I’m going to give Horizon a few more issues to decide on the series, it might be a slow burn with a long setup. It doesn’t have the WOW beginning like Saga had.

I am buying all DC Rebirth titles just as an investment. I will continue to buy some titles and I will stop some titles that I don’t like the story or the art. For the new ones, New Super-Man was kind of ridiculous. Nightwing is not telling me anything interesting. Hal Jordan was so-so, it was just the “Rebirth” issue, lets see how is #1.
And I agree with @Briansoucie “Rebirth is showing some fatigue” caught my attention too…

    Thanks Guys! Appreciate the comments.

Bought several copies of New Superman #1 (as well as “first appearance” in B/S #32). Read it. Very disappointed. The story was so cheesy and felt rushed and awkward. For investment sake, I really hope the story and writing improves, pronto!

It’s just hard to get excited about speccing Rebirth when you walk into your LCS and there is a large stack of each title (TWO large stacks of Flash #2, mind you). Feels better grabbing the last copy of Vision #9 or ASM #15. I know this is somewhat psychological but I like how Marvel is being under-ordered in some cases and many titles go to multiple printings.

I preferred speccing New 52 DC. Stuff like the Darkseid War and Superman American Alien had nice small print runs. I imagine once the return policy returns to normal I’ll start speccing DC more again.

My stores are all sold opts of rebirth… I think they’ll
Be a slow burn some titles should keep the hear….if super sons ever come out superman should heat up….I’m still having little trouble selling almost any rebirth for 2x-3x cover

Who are you selling these recent Rebirth titles to for 2x-3x cover? I just checked and there is someone selling each new title on ebay for at or below cover. You can even get Batman #1s for a buck or two above cover now. I fear the salad days of Rebirth flipping are over.
