I normally pre-order from but have yet to find a way to pre-order ratio or incentive variants other than through eBay. Is that basically the only way since my LCS doesn’t get them?

    • Avatar

The high ratio variants are tough to get from a lot of LCS’s. Making friends at a larger store is always recommended, but some members here or on G+ may have some better insight.

A sherlock holmes comic book written by Kareem?? Whut!?
Killer Inside Me by Jim Thompson is one of the greatest american crime novels. I can’t recomend that book enough. Completely insane story for it’s time (or any time.) Thompson’s hardcore style is the inspiration for much of what is being written today.

Thanks for the article I’ve been looking into previews since hear it on the Podcast a few weeks back … Good info for the group

  • Avatar

Great article. Thanks for the info. Hopefully this will become a monthly article.

Does Preview tell you about the variant covers?

  • Avatar

Awesome info and attention to detail Nick. I will look forward to this very month.

  • Khoi Cakes

Yes! This is an awesome addition to our mix of articles!

  • zraximus rouge

There are also comic subscription services that allow you to order books months in advance. I use DCBS and they are great. Usually a 30% discount and sometimes more (if you ordered every rebirth title you got them at 40% off!!!) . In addition, you can buy variants also. Even with shipping and bags/boards it is cheaper than LCS prices

Great article full of valuable info! Appreciate you taking the time time to keep me informed. I look forward to the next one, sir.

  • Drclix

Another vote for this being a regular column!!

The Previews is okay, but I can never find all the variants coming out for a particular title. Is there not a single website that lists ALL variants coming out for a particular title? I remember when DKIII #1 came out, there were a billion variants, and I had to spend hours online trying to find which ones were available to order.

    Also, zraximus, what is DCBS?

    • Avatar

I had to piece together the variant info from a few sources. Previews does not make it easy. The retailers may have an easier. I get the impression that they are notified about them separately. DCBS has an online store. It seems most people have good things to say about them went it comes to preorders.

  • Modough

Great article idea and execution! Hands down my favorite thing to do each month is go through Previews cover-to-cover. Not just for spec, but also to see what’s going on in the comics I’m not reading. But it is a ton of stuff so this article is great for highlighting what could be of special interest to some people. Really appreciate you going through the TPBs too.

Drclix – DCBS is Discount Comic Book Service, an online comic retailer that offers pre-orders at a discount. I have been using DCBS for my pre-orders for a couple of years now and have never been disappointed. Fast shipping and well packed. I also use their sister site InStockTrades to order TPBs at a discount.
