The Second Day After Wednesday for 4/29/16

Want to know which books from yesterday’s new deliveries are already heating up and which ones are cooling? Here’s a “Day After” (Late Edition) list that we hope will help! This isn’t a reflection on the quality, collectability or long term potential of recently released books. This is based on today’s market price for books that came out on Wednesday, 4/27/16. They could still be at your shop.

HOT

KILLBOX #1 (AMERICAN GOTHIC PRESS) – Triple cover is great, flooding is not. This is very similar to what happened with DARK SOULS 1 last week. The second everyone found out this was selling well, copies disappeared off shelves and all showed up on eBay. Undercutting has begun and prices are dropping. If demand can keep up, then it'll bounce back. However, I highly suggest you purchase these cautiously.

Killbox #1

LAST WEEK’S TOP PERFORMERS:

HARLEY'S LITTLE BLACK BOOK #3 1:25 LINSNER VARIANT – This was the hot book of last week. Prices have dropped a bit with sales between $40-$50.

DARK SOULS #1 (TITAN) – This is a bit of a surprise. Values have bounced back for the standard cover this week to $15-$20. I had this in warm last week thanks to market flooding, which had cut values in half. The variants seemed to have suffered the biggest hit and have not bounced back yet.

Harley Quinn's Little Black Book #3 Linsner Variant Dark Souls #1

WARM

4 Kids Walk into a Bank #14 KIDS WALK INTO A BANK #1 (BLACK MASK) – This was probably the hottest book of the week. While it's not doing bad, the multiple variants really helped water down it's overall value. The standard issue is selling for above cover and the limited retailer variant is doing about $150. That price is only good dependent on 1. If your store even got one and 2. If they didn't list it at or above that. Pre-sales were doing about $200, so it's likely that stores used that as a barometer. The big question lies in whether this has long term potential. That $150 could be a decent investment in a few months. For me, $150 is too big a price to gamble on.

Harley Quinn #27 VariantHARLEY QUINN #27 1:25 VARIANT – Red Tool….. (sigh), I get it. It's a satire of Deadpool. I don't love it, but I get it. This variant also has Harley riding a bear and features the origin of Red Tool. My gut says to leave this book alone, but who knows these days with Harley or Deadpool homage characters (see Gwenpool).

SABRETOOTH DAN #1 (SCOUT COMICS) – There are not many listed and only a few sold, but the going price on this is about $15. However, that's only 1 sale.

UNBEATABLE SQUIRREL GIRL #7 1:25 SIYA OUM VARIANT – Prices have been all over the place for this. It saw multiple sales of $40, but then plenty of okay prices at around $25. Every recent listing is either priced around $45-$50 or they have auctions with active bidding. I really debated where to put this but, due to it's current inconsistency, it has to be in warm. I think it'll stabilize at $25.

I think because American Gothic Press have printed such a low amount of Killbox they’ll hold their value and eventually start being more valuable…. Once the eBay market dries up of course.
I was reading on line that a lot of Local shops, including my own, didn’t even carry Killbox. I got both the regular and variant from Midtown.

Matt…I hope next week you can give us an update on Killbox

Yeah I’ll be intrested as well on how Killbox looks next week found only 2 variants and a small amount of regular covers searching the local shops in Houston.
