The Day After Wednesday for 11/26/15
Want to know which books from yesterday’s new deliveries are already heating up and which ones are cooling? Here’s a “Day After” list that we hope will help! This isn’t a reflection on the quality, collectability or long term potential of recently released books. This is based on today’s market price for books that came out yesterday, Wednesday 11/25/15. They could still be at your shop.
First, Happy Thanksgiving! Hope everyone eats well and gets a day off from comics….. Until tomorrow. While Black Friday means cheap TVs to some, it means cheap comics to me. So, good luck tomorrow to my fellow hunters.
SELF STORAGE #2 – This is a solid $18 (shipped) book right now. Second issues tend to have smaller print runs, so I expect the price to go up.
STRAIGHTJACKET #2 – See Trey's “Time to Hunt” article. Recent sales have been for about $17, however the cheapest listed price up currently is $25 (shipped). I think this will be climbing for the next week or two.
LAST WEEK’S TOP PERFORMERS:
DEADPOOL #2 HIP HOP 1:100 VARIANT – This book is not only holding it's $100 price tag from last week, but it's seeing some higher sales as well.
STAR WARS VADER DOWN #1 1:4999 ZDARSKY VARIANT – This hit highs of $4K last week!!! Which is amazing, but not surprising. It started dropping shortly after to $3,200 and then most recently to $2,900. Which is still pretty solid. Where will it end up? The folks buying these for $3K/$4K most likely have no intention to sell. Because of this, copies will disappear to the point of extinction. Once it does, this book will see some nice jumps. If you own one, you have one of the rarest variants known. The key is to not panic and sell your copy. I would sit on it for a few years. This is an investment book. Stars Wars isn't going anywhere anytime soon. It'll forever stay an expensive book just due to it's rarity.
DARK KNIGHT III MASTER RACE #1 – This was absolutely the hot book of the week. However, there's really no variant doing blazingly better then another. The Jim Lee variant is a solid $450 book. However, I wouldn't pay more then $350 for a price drop buffer. The 1:100 Miller variant is only doing $65 shipped. I expect that shops are squeezing every dime they can out of these higher variants due to the amount of copies they needed to order to just get those.
SILK #1 – The Forbes, Tarr & the Hip Hop Variant all seem to be doing well. They're not going crazy, but still solid at around $25 for Forbes, $18 for Tarr and slightly over cover for the Hip Hop.
ALL NEW WOLVERINE #2 VARIANT
BATMAN ARKHAM KNIGHT ROBIN SPECIAL #1
ITTY BITTY HELLBOY SEARCH FOR THE WERE-JAGUAR #1
MARVEL UNIVERSE ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN SPIDER-VERSE #1
PEANUTS SNOOPY SUPER SPECIAL
VENOM SPACE KNIGHT #1 – All variants.
WITCHBLADE #185 – Series finale. WITCHBLADE is one of those sorely underrated books. The art is and has always been some of the best in the industry. Sejic specifically is absolutely amazing. The story has always been fun and smart and found it's way out of being just a 90's “T&A” comic. Last series issues tend to do really well long term. I'll be grabbing the 1:5 Sejic cover and will be watching for a rarer variant that Top Cow tends to save for conventions.
