Micronauts, Mr Freeze, Scarlet Witch & Vision and Xena!

This week I’m giving out some free advice in a popular format, a top ten list:

  1. Watch Gotham and then binge watch James Frain as Thomas Cromwell in The Tudors if you have yet to do so.
  2. Watch every Star Wars film with Jar Jar Binks but imagine that he is a Sith lord as powerful as Yoda. That reddit thesis might just be correct!
  3. Play Axiom Verge.
  4. Read at least one book from your to-read stack every day.
  5. Do not read ODY-C.
  6. Buy Major League.
  7. Sell Major League 2.
  8. Pay an expert to Press.
  9. Do not drink soda.
  10. The shiny side of your acid-free board should touch the comic.

And this week’s picks are…

The Micronauts 1

I had no idea this was optioned but I guess they have a script writer so hooray. Here is the first appearance of most major characters. My advice is to grab multiples of the premiere and the last few issues in the series, then wait.

Gotham has cast Nora Fries, the wife of Mr. Freeze! This one has a nice cover and should be an easy find in high grade.

Giant Size Avengers 4

There has been some chatter about the internet concerning the Vision’s role in Cap 3 and that he may be married or already married to the Scarlet Witch! If the ASM annual 21 can continually do well then why not this comic?

… and if they ever have that baby look for this one:

Vision and the Scarlet Witch #12

Here is my preview pick of the month. The spec on Boys is starting to build. If you are a completist or just like first appearances then find this one if you can. ( Boys 1 color preview )

Strangers in Paradise 1996 ( 16,16b )

I remember how popular Xena was and when this beloved comic decided to spoof her show they quickly became some tough comics to find. Now that a reboot is in order some might want to revisit the key comics but I have to tell you there aren’t many. To this day when I am flipping through back issue bins containing SIP I find myself heading right to where these two comics are supposed to be and I am almost always disappointed.

And for the Xena collectors out there here is her first appearance and cover!
