Star Wars Shadows of the Empire One-Shot – July 1996

Star Wars Shadow of the Empire One-Shot

Welcome back to Covers from the Unknown!

Want a little Star Wars variant action? You have come to the right place!

First off, who doesn’t love Boba Fett? When his movie finally does hit, I have a feeling people will not be able to get enough of America’s favorite Bounty Hunter. Today, I give you his first variant comic! (well, at least I am pretty sure!) This is Star Wars Shadow of the Empire One Shot Special from Dark Horse, with art by Kilian Plunkett. So where do you pick up one of these gems? Well, you could only get this if you bought the IG-88 vs. Boba Fett Action Figure two pack from Kenner. They were released in early 1996.

So here is the hard part…..what the heck is the print run? I cannot nail down the Kenner production numbers for these Shadows of the Empire lines, but I am guessing there are not 10’s of thousands of these laying around. They are on the bay right now, and the prices are not too bad. And I am also sure some of the toys were opened, and the comics were thrown around, throw out, etc…. So, you want my recommendation? Gonna give it to you anyways. Order 1 or 2 of these in great condition, and stash them away. His movie will be here before you know it, and everyone will want anything Boba Fett, including his first variant!

Happy Hunting fellas!
