 DETECTIVE COMICS #1

DETECTIVE COMICS #1

(DC)

The book that started it all.  Detective Comics #1 was the first comic to offer original stories and art, where before, all comic books released were reprints from strips.  Great cover by Vincent Sullivan and some early writing by Jerry Siegel and early inks and pencils by Joe Shuster (creators of Superman).

13 Universal copies on the census with 3 6.5s topping the chart and a 2.5 at the bottom.  Average grade is 4.54 but should be noted there are also 15 restored copies on the census with 2 8.5 examples at the top of the chart.

SHELF DATE of March 1937

As always, thanks for looking, folks!
