UPDATE: I have recovered a few of the deleted accounts from the comments table, so if you have ever left a comment in any article you should be OK: just ask for a password reset from the forgotten password section and you are sorted.
I shouldn't be cleaning the user database while doing a hundred other things at the same time, but lately we have been getting hundreds of fake registrations on the site, so I had to do something about it before going on holidays.
To make a long story short, if you registered with a yahoo email address, there's a good chance your account does not exist anymore, so you will have to register again. This might cause problems with the forum, so let me know below if you experience any problems.
Really sorry about this, I really appreciate the participation on the site and I know that it's not fun to have to register and have a new password and all that … We will raffle a couple of books among all those who re-register in a pathetic attempt to lessen the hate.

So I end up losing my original screen name and the ability to register from my legit primary email? The raffle is cool and all but isn’t vaporizing everyone’s accounts with yahoo email (especially those who have been active in the forum) a little bit overkill?
I’m pretty sure this was a mistake as he mentioned he was ‘database cleaning while busy’ and mentioned on the G+ forum that he was really tired at the time as well. Take it easy on him, he’s done a stellar job with the site thus far.
No worries, I know you all are working hard to make this all work; mistakes happen.

Allows had problems with yahoo, which is why is shifted to gmail. Raffle! Raffle! Raffle!
