HOT 5 : VINTAGE

 BRAVE & THE BOLD #25

1 BRAVE & THE BOLD #25

1st Appearance SUICIDE SQUAD
As with most “Hot Books” more information or announcements about a movie or TV show progressing forward leads to a spike in price.  Few books have experienced as violent of an upswing as BB #25.  It seems that with every announcement, this once overlooked and easy to pick up comic, hits a new consistent high point.  Where is the ceiling on this book?  No one knows.  Near impossible to find as are most early Silver Age DC books, those who were lucky enough to secure a copy seem to be holding back for the most part, while those “bold” enough to sell, are reaping the rewards of a frenzied market.
 AVENGERS #57

2 AVENGERS #57

1st Appearance THE VISION

While the release of Avengers Age of Ultron might lead to the decline in price on books like Avengers #54 & #55, the first appearance of The Vision is holding strong.  With future screen appearances on the way, this seems like a very safe book to hold onto for the foreseeable future.

 ACTION COMICS #252

3 ACTION COMICS #252

1st Appearance Supergirl

I know folks are probably growing tired of seeing this on every Silver Age related list I post, but the market does not lie.  Another great example of an early DC Silver Age book that was not quite overlooked, but was certainly not realizing its full potential in the marketplace.  News of CBS confirming that they have picked this show up and is being made, has not made this any easier on those in search of this soon to be Blue Chip.

 STAR WARS #42

4 STAR WARS #42

1st Appearance Boba Fett(in Comics)

1st Boba in comics and a nice Bounty Hunter cover has this book gaining steam daily.  2 versions of this exist, the direct edition and the Newsstand version which features the bar code in place of Spidey's head.  With the new movie coming out this Christmas and the fan favorite Bounty Hunter getting his own movie in the future there is still time to secure a nice copy for yourself even if prices seem high.

 INCREDIBLE HULK #181

5 INCREDIBLE HULK #181

1st Full Appearance WOLVERINE

While the passing of Herb Trimpe a little less than a month ago was sad for the comic collecting community, it drew a lot more attention to books he was the artist on.  Most notable would be the number one Bronze Age book and its classic cover.  Considered a grail for a lot of collectors for many years, the market has been somewhat volatile on most examples of this book, with the news of Herb's passing only increasing the demand and rush of collectors and investors alike trying to secure a higher grade example for themselves.

 IRON MAN #55

IRON MAN #55

1st Appearance THANOS

We have been living in a market place that basically worships this book, and has since the release of the first Avengers movie.  Never actually cooling off though it did stabilize in price for a short period of time until Marvel finally released the official schedule of Movies for the next few years.  With the confirmation of the Infinity storyline and yet another Thanos cameo in Age of Ultron(spoiler, sorry, but you all knew this was going to happen…) the market has again set its focus on this comic.

HOUSE OF MYSTERY #156

HOUSE OF MYSTERY #156

1st Appearance DIAL H FOR HERO
Rumors of an upcoming TV show have put this minor key at best onto a lot of investor and “flipper” radars.  While not terribly difficult to find, more news could lead to a nice spike in pricing on this comic.
