Black Spider-Man Costume
I love this hobby. I get to buy comics, read them, gaze at their awesomeness, then I get to turn them into money so I can buy more. Well, if I want to buy more comics, then I need to make more money. Aint that a bitch?
I figure I might as well keep an eye out on the things that are going to get me the biggest return on my investment. Here’s a few things I’ve noticed …
This book is way cheaper than it should be. This is the community recognized 1st appearance of the black Spider-Man costume. Everyone knows that the black costume is way more badass then those red and blue PJs he was sporting before. Not to mention the black costume ends up becoming Venom. Kind of a big deal. While everyone is out spending a million dollars on Venom’s 1st appearance, you should be able to get yourself a 9.8 for well under $250. One just ended not too long ago for under $170. That’s just plain craziness. Buy this book right now.
How about Secret Wars 8? This book is stupid cheap right now. This is recognized as the origin of the black costume. Plus it is one of the sickest covers in comic book history.A CGC 9.8 usually ends under $180. There was one sold last week for $119. $119? Seriously. That is a slap in the face to this important, iconic book…a slap I wouldn’t mind giving!
Finally we have the redheaded stepchild of costume 1st appearances. This is tied with Amazing Spiderman 252 as the 1st appearance of the black costume, yet it gets half the love.I wouldn’t buy this thing slabbed. You can get super cheap raw copies on eBay. Buy the mintiest one you can find. Get it pressed. Send it to CGC and now it’s a $200 book. There is money to be made on this book if you go at it the right way!
