Walking Dead, Saga, Descender & more!!!

wednesday

One book to rule the week

If you could only choose one comic book to buy from all the new comics being released this Wednesday, what would it be?

We ask the staff here at ComicBookInvest.Com the same question and their answers are sometimes surprising. Made up of a wide range of comic book speculators, enthusiasts, and ne’er-do-wells, the staff prides itself on being able to identify the worthy from the unworthy each Wednesday.

Here's what they had to say this week:

Convergence #1

Convergence #1

Mark H: Convergence #1 for the test read we'll see how that goes, this and issue #2 are the only ones I'm 100 percent getting.

Deadpool #45

Deadpool #45

Mark H: I was against it at first, but I caved and went with the Deadpool #45.  I figure I better get it now while I get a discount.

Saga #27

Saga #27

Mark H: I've also got my ear to the ground on Saga #27, they hid the cover for a while and the synopsis is two words “Poor Marko.”

Star Trek / Planet of the Apes #5

Star Trek / Planet of the Apes #5

Bryan S: I dunno – tough this week … unless you like to actually read things – then I see a number of options! As far as random spec:

Star Trek / Planet of the Apes #5 Variant – The last few have been $15 – 20 books (Shatner, McCoy, Heston) – Spock happens to be the last one, so there may be a slight demand.  R.I.P & I hate to think so morbidly, but it's the truth.  If you can get your hands on an authenticated Star Wars #1 signed by Harrison Ford – DO IT!!  Again … morbid, but you'll make some money one day …..

TMNT #44 (2nd printing)

TMNT #44 (2nd printing)

Bryan STMNT #44 – 2nd print – 1st print has continued on strong, I still see the drop off looming, but maybe a quick flip

Justin W: Tmnt 44 2nd print seems to be the winner IMO. Probably a very low print run. Initially limited to one per order on midtown and now sold out (Friday). Flip some and hold a few, but don't get crazy.

Keith S: TMNT #44 2nd print – I told you on Wednesday to grab this, sold out by Friday. Killer cover (literally).

Deadpool #45 (Run the Jewels 1:50 Variant)

Deadpool #45 (Run the Jewels 1:50 Variant)

Bryan SDeadpool #45 – Skottie Young Jewels Variant – among the reasoning just to buy it for the cover – the 2nd appearance of the Thanos Copter?!  I dunno – 1st appearance is Spider Super Stories #39 (plus Thanos, gauntlet, rarity bonuses) – pair them bitches up!!

Keith S: Deadpool #45 run the jewels variant – This will be the big dog this week.

Agustin S: Deadpool 45, 1:50 variant. Simple, clean, and sweet looking cover.

The Fox #1

The Fox #1

Ronnie C: I'm definitely picking up the The Fox regular series, the limited series was just a great read and looks like the same creative team is back again during the regular series.

Savior #1

Savior #1

Ronnie C: Also liking Savior #1, written by Todd Mcfarlane, didn't see a lot of variant covers for this one, if at all any….which is a good thing.

Agustin S: Also, Image new #1 Savior looks interesting enought to read. The cover alone grabbed my attention.

Marq R: Aside from Saga and The Walking Dead, I think I'm gonna have to go with the new Todd McFarlane book, Savior #1. I wish he was drawing it but the painted art by Clayton Crain looks great. The plot seems interesting plus there are no variants to confuse the hell out of me!

Nick N: Savior looks very intriguing to me, but I fully expect to be let down a la Evil Empire. Hope I'm wrong.

All-New Hawkeye #2

All-New Hawkeye #2

Keith S: All new Hawkeye #2 – following in the foot steps of Fraction, Lemire did a stellar job with Hawkguy in issue #1. The rare marvel book that I can't wait for each month!

Descender #2

Descender #2

Keith S: Descender #2, Saga #27, Walking Dead #140 – what a great week to be reading books!!!

Nick N: Descender is top of the reading pile, that first ish was tremendous and the creative team is a perfect fusion of story and visual by 2 talents at the top of their game. this one feels like an epic plotted well in advance, much like Saga did

Lola Xoxo: Wasteland Madam #1 (Retailer Incentive Variant)

Lola Xoxo: Wasteland Madam #1 (Retailer Incentive Variant)

John D: Siya Oum's Lola Xoxo Wasteland Madam #1 1:12 RIE Fantastic cover…

Birthright #6

Birthright #6

Justin B: Birthright #6. This is my favorite book to read out of any by far. New story arc begins and i am really looking forward to where Josh Williamson is taking this. With Nailbiter, Birthright and Ghosted he is definitely my favorite writer right now.

Darth Vader #4

Darth Vader #4

Jason S: Going with Darth Vader 4. This has been, far and away my favorite Star Wars title in a long, long time. Awesome story. Honestly, with the selections next week, this was an easy pick for me. Convergence is doing nothing for me.

Wade W: Darth Vader and Descender

Big Man Plans #2

Big Man Plans #2

Thomas P: Descender #2 and Birthright #6 are for sure on my must-read list for this week. Really liked Lemiere's world building and set up in the first issue of Descender, and the family dynamics and twists in the first story arc of Willamson's Birthright have me wanting more.  But, if I had to pick up just one book, it would definitely be Big Man Plans #2. That first issue was even better than I hoped. Big Man was tearing it up and I can't wait to see the continuation of his rage fueled quest for revenge. That's some insane pulp violence goodness right there!

The Walking Dead #140

The Walking Dead #140

Mark C:  Wow!  Looks like it’s going to be an amazing week for comics.  Especially for Image.  This week we get Saga, Rat Queens, Birthright, Descender, Five Ghosts and Savior.  We get some other good books from non-Big 2 publishers, like The Fox #1 and Rebels #1 too.  You have to go buy The Walking Dead #140 though.  You HAVE to.  This is an exciting storyline in an interesting new direction and it would be a shame if you missed it cause you were buying something else.  Tell your friends!

That's it for this week. What would you buy? There can be only one!
