Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Vol 5 #44 (2015) Cover C Retailer Incentive Variant Cover (1:10)

15 - 1 WRITER: Tom Waltz
ARTIST: Cory Smith
The “Death of Donatello” is still the hottest topic in comics, and according to eBay sales and gocollect.com info it will be for at least another week. With a lot of false information being thrown around last week, this book hung in limbo as far as sales and potential. Unconfirmed sources showing pics of him in a coma were never proven real or true. Interview with author Tom Watz last week proved the “trolls” wrong as they usually are. He said and I quote “Donnie, sadly, is a casualty of war… one of the good guys who has sacrificed his very existence to protect others.  He’s a true hero and that won’t be forgotten by his family or his friends… as we will show in upcoming issues as well as our Free Comic Book Day offering.” Regardless, Donatello died in this book and will be historical in that sense. Congrats to web engineer Marq R who bought the last page of OA from the book as well.

2 Darth Vader #3 (2015) Salvador Larocca Variant (1:25)

This book introduced a new female into the  Marvel Star Wars Universe. The character is named Doctor Aphra and is a freewheeling pilot. Yeah……I don't understand why this is so Earth shattering either. Regardless this book shot up yesterday to $65 steadily. There was also a rumor about the regular cover being allocated yesterday as well causing it to be a $15 book. No confirmation on the allocation rumors. Some shops got 3, some 0, and then some got all they ordered it seems.

3 Batman #35 (2014) DC Combo Pack Variant

WRITER: Scott Snyder
ARTIST: Greg Capullo

People are finally noticing how rare these Combo variants are and the secondary market value in them. This was brought to my attention by a CHU article a few months back. There are literally only a few hundred copies of some of these books if Comichron numbers are correct. This book was hitting above $55 dollars on eBay as of yesterday with multiple sales. I firmly believe as I have stated before this ENDGAME story-line with Joker's origin will be one of the those runs that does nothing but gain in value and popularity. Especially the polarizing way Snyder used Eric Border to reintroduce the Joker to Bruce. I think Batman Annual #2 is underrated as well being the first Border. These books are going extinct per DC and this is one of the rarer ones as the later books have lower and lower print runs.

DC Comics Presents Vol.1 #47 (1982)

WRITER: Paul Kupperburg
ARTIST: Curt Swan
He-Man was the coolest thing in the world when I was growing up. I literally had every toy made from Orko to Castle Grayskull. That was until the fateful “garage sale” my Mom had while I was in college. Anyways Sony is going to reboot this franchise with another live action movie. There has been a leaked render of Battle Cat floating around as well. How does this pertain to comics you are asking? Well the first appearance of MOTU was in DCP #47. These books are drying up as nostalgic people such as myself are buying them. High grades are $100 right now. Buy and buy fast!

5 Salvation Run #7 (2008) Neal Adams Variant (1:25)

WRITER: Matthew Sturges
ARTIST: Sean Chen
This book has a really cool story to be honest. Until it was revealed by my buddy Jason S on this page it was hidden in obscurity. A few days after it was brought up, all copies disappeared on eBay and as of this writing that still was the case. Copies have gone for $70+ on eBay and on our very own BST and Razz page have gone even higher. It was also brought to my attention that Neal Adams basically created the maniacal modern Joker we all see today. This looks like it could be a Batman #251 cover just as easily as the SV#7 variant. This book will be a $50 book forever now.

6 Lady Killer #1 (2015) Emerald City Comic Con Variant (500 copies)

WRITER: Joelle Jones
ARTIST: Joelle Jones
It was either the regular Lady Killer #1 this week or the ECCC variant. Based on pre-sales on eBay this one is the winner. It is limted to 500 copies and was told last night that most copies have a corner bend on the top left. SMH. Making premium copies of this ridiculous I'm afraid. I'm scared of convention variants after Wytches NYCC, and Walking Dead/Manifest SDCC. I know a lot of people who lost a lot of money on those books this past year. Green cover will make it hard to hide imperfections. If you pre-ordered or have a hookup, I will cross my fingers for you. This could be a $100 book next week

PreacherPreview

7 Preacher Preview #1 (1992)

WRITER: Garth Ennis
ARTIST: Steve Dillon
With news coming out almost daily now about casting choices, the Preacher train is back on the tracks. I always debate on which books is going to be the best long-term  Preacher #1 or the Preview? I then look at the registry and it doesn't take any longer. Preacher Preview in high grades are much more rare. By almost 10:1 ratio. Shops were sent these and almost immediately discarded. Its 4 total pages including cover and flimsy as Obama's foreign policy. I like the casting choices so far, and think Rogen is good for the project. I just hope AMC is the right avenue for this material. I will say Walking Dead has some pretty intense scenes and language at times, so here's hoping it won't be neutered.

8 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Vol 5 #44 (2015) Tricon Variant

WRITER: Tom Waltz
ARTIST: Cory Smith
This book isn't even out until April 11th and is already being salivated over. If the print run rumors of 1,200 are true than this in theory will be rarer than the RI variant currently #1. There is going to be a massive line of speculators and Turtle fans camped out eating pizza in their custom April O'neil News vans……I would rather go work with Wade for a day than be in that line, but it doesn't mean I don't want 10 of these variants. With the RI still selling around $100 this could be a profitable book if you can get one.

Star_Wars_Darth_Vader_Vol_1_3

9 Darth Vader #3 (2015)

WRITER: Kieron Gillen
ARTIST: Salvador Larroca
Possible allocation, new character, and Darth Vader. Do you need anymore information on why this book was pre-selling for $12 before hit stores Wed? Regardless it has settled in at that price and should stay in that range for the time being.

Lazarus_1-300x461 (1)

10 Lazarus #1 (2013)

WRITER: Greg Rucka
ARTIST: Michael Lark
After being put in dollar bins and “fail” boxes, people with stockpiles of Lazarus books had a good week. It was announced that Sony won a bidding war to have the rights to make Lazarus a TV series. This books started out incredible with a story that was fresh. Not sure why but it fell off fast and people gave up on it……until this week. Book has been selling for above $10 all week and should see further movement.

Descender #1 (2015) ECCC Image Exlusive (Murphy Cover)

WRITER: Jeff Lemire
ARTIST: Dustin Nguyen
This is the real cover of the ECCC Image Exclusive. Not the white cover people have been hawking on eBay the past month. Jimmy Linguini told people this months ago and nobody listened. This is the one to buy, not the Comic's Dungeon Nguyen cover. There are going to be a lot of unhappy people when they realize there are two ECCC variants and this is the Image exclusive.

Superman #38 (2015) Combo Pack Variant

WRITER: Geoff Johns
ARTIST: John Romita Jr
Hey, you know that Superman #38 1:100 variant that everyone wants and is going for over $200? Guess what, this book is more rare……. Nobody knows that yet so keep it a secret. Don't buy the ones on eBay for under $15, sounds good? You promise? Ok thanks : )
