One book to rule the week

If you could only choose one comic book to buy from all the new comics being released this Wednesday, what would it be?

We ask the staff here at ComicBookInvest.Com the same question and their answers are sometimes surprising. Made up of a wide range of comic book speculators, enthusiasts, and ne’er-do-wells, the staff prides itself on being able to identify the worthy from the unworthy each Wednesday. Here's what they had to say this week:

Here's what they had to say this week:

Walking Dead #139

Walking Dead #139

Mark C: The Walking Dead #139. Nothing else this week even comes close. What will happen when Rick reaches the ocean? Can walkers swim? Will Rick commandeer a houseboat and ride out this whole apocalypse thing safely offshore? No matter what happens, it's bound to good!

Darth Vader #3

Darth Vader #3

Brian S: Darth Vader #3 – new Star Wars character to spec on!

Matt D: Hands down Vader 3. Girl Power is a big and real thing in comics right now. Pair that up with a new Han Solo like Heroine within a beast of a franchise like SW, and done…. Hot book.

Carlos M: Darth Vader 3. New character. Uncanny x-men Noto cover is nice.

John D: A new character! Can't resist Darth Vader #3.

Batman & Robin #40

Batman & Robin #40

Mark H: For the reading: Batman & Robin #40, super-powered Damian will come face to face with Superman which is what I wanted to see since the change! Also Multiversity Ultra Comics #1 cause Morrison be awesome.

For the flip: I'd have to side with Bryan S it's the only book I can see which is sold out already on a few sites and a new character into Star Wars is always good.

And if I were to roll the dice: Past Aways #1 Matt Kindt knocked it out with Mind MGMT could see him doing it again easy!

Chew #47

Chew #47

Van D: For reading purposes: I always look forward to Chew. It is a pleasant departure from the serious tones in most books I enjoy. The creative team is a major plus as well.

Wytches #5

Wytches #5

Catwoman #40

Catwoman #40

Keith S: Wytches #5 – Snyder and jock are doing justice to the horror genre! Catwoman #40 movie variant – I love a good cover, and this is the best of the bunch.

Michael C: And for what it's worth…the Catwoman movie variant was already sold out at midtown as of yesterday afternoon.

Secret Origins #10 (2nd Printing)

Secret Origins #10 (2nd Printing)

Brian W: Secret Origins #10 has a 2nd print this week. (Not sure what cover looks like yet)

Uncanny X-men #32 has a nice Noto variant at regular price.

Gotham Academy #6 has a 1:25 Babs Tarr variant.

Disney's Big Thunder Mountian Railroad #1 based on the roller coaster at Disney World

Multiversity: Ultra

Multiversity: Ultra

Rory D: no spec this week, just doin some old fashioned read'n…Multiversity Ultra comics #1, I've really enjoyed Grant Morrison's Multiversity run so far. Entertaining & many layers of stories within the main story; i absolutely know I'm going to have to re-read all of them eventually.
Invincible #118, New story arc starting in the Superhero soap opera. Oh & it's only .25 cents this week, how coo,is that

That's it for this week. What would you buy? There can be only one!

Jem & the Holograms #1 – My 6 year old girl is getting her first comic! Thus begins the addiction!

May get a copy to keep in good shape so she’ll have it years down the road. Everybody loves the 80’s throwbacks. It might actually have some legs if they revive the show. Same thing we saw with Transformers. Besides, Girl Power is all the rage right now. Might mean new female collectors down the road will be looking for back issues.

Otherwise, Darth Vader #3 seems to be the best pick. Variant cover with the new character shown.

Agreed, Nick. May be picking up one for my girl too. She loves the Frozen comic and this could be another one to put in her collection if done right. Thanks!

Why has Vader 3 shot up in price and is sold out at local comic shops around me?

Thought I’d report my DV situation out here.

Went to Hastings as the doors opened Wed morning and was told they only received enough to cover pulls. Zero to be found. Went to my LCS at opening and they had about 15 on the shelf but no variant for sale. I went back to the same LCS yesterday and they pulled the remaining copies (about 4) and placed them on the counter at $10 each. I passed but bought a few copies on Wed.

Yeah, it was the first time in a long time that I saw the “1 per customer ” sign come out at a couple stores. Disappointing, as I did not think the book was all that great. Have sold a few around $10.
