Amazing Spider-Man Halloween Giveaway – Oct 1993

Amazing Spider-Man Halloween Giveaway

The fifth installment of Covers from the Unknown looks at The Amazing Spider-Man Halloween Giveaway, with art by Mark Bagley. This comic was distributed by Marvel in October 1993, as a Halloween Giveaway at Local Comic Book shops. The print run is a little hard to find at this point, but I am actively pursuing it. So what is so cool about this? Well you know this Free Comic Book Day thing they have now-a-days, starting up in 2001? The roots of that can be traced back to this give-a-way, think of it as your first FCBD! It is slightly larger than a comic book, measuring in at 11-3/8 x 6-5/8, and is also printed on newspaper stock.

This is one of those items that you may want to get, just to have some history. If you do some searching, you can find them. They are on amazon, mcs, and the bay. But here is the thing, because they are on newspaper stock, it’s a very hard item to find in good condition. We are now talking about a giveaway 22 years ago. But in the end, it’s Spidey, Bagley, and a little bit of history. Go get one! Happy Hunting fellas!
